Hi everyone, I'm Derek. From Canada just bought my first dsm a week or so. First standard for me as well.

I WAS driving 350 km a day and the transmission went in my automatic dodge sx 2.0, which wasn't worth fixing so I went on the hunt for a new daily. Urgently needing one and not many people at the ready to show me their used cars for sale I settled for a 95 gst eclipse. And am starting to love this car more and more everyday.

I actually want to fix this car up now, something I never thought I'd want to do with a car. It is not in the greatest condition it runs good and the internals are in good condition but it's exterior is a little beat up and interior needs a bit of tlc.

The main issue I have with it right now is its way to low for me. And the suspenssion seems shot because of how low the springs are. It almost feels like I am going to catch air from hitting a tiny pot hole. From center of the wheel to top of fender it measures 13.5" front 12.5" back and I belive that's on stock shocks.

Suspension is one of those grey areas where it all varies from person to person on what you feel is better or how you drive. But I am looking for some decent ground clearance with a some what comfortable ride but also wanna be able to slice through those corners when I feel like ripping it up. Was kind of thinking koni yellows with prokits because of the clearance but have no idea how they feel

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated :) and hello everyone!

Just get a good adjustable kit and you will get the clearance/ride you want. I sugest fixing any rust as soon as you can or at the very least put some oil/krown on the rust. These cars tend to rot fairly easy.

There is little rust on this baby just a bit on the one corner where the hood seems to rub on the fender which is an easy fix and a little bit on the frame rails which is probably a not so easy fix as the frame rails are pretty banged up from the previous owner having it lowered so low. No crazy bends in it but a lot of big dents :(

Are the full bodied coilovers usually a better bang for the buck? The koni shocks say you can adjust the hieght the spring sits at by an inch you could probably almost get stock height. With prokits? Or would that mess with the spring rates?

All depends what your doing with the car, how much u want to spend etc.....

After spending hours of reading through the site I think I'm deciding on getting koni yellows with gc now. But am a little unsure obout spring rates I see a lot of the performance coilovers give spring rates around 500-560 front /336 rear. Are those generally pretty comfortable rates for a gst with out sacrificing too much comfort and performance? Also couldn't find a whole lot of info for what rates people have for their fwd, but the stock rates seem relatively the same minus some changes between 95-99. So I'm guessing they are close to the same?
