My name is Zach I'm am from memphis tn and am a newbie to this site. I figured I would post this. Any info would be much appreciated

I have recently purchased a 99 gst. It has no motor but does have a tranny. In the near future I am going to put a 6 bolt in it. I already have the engine. I also have purchased a 99 gs as a parts car and will be using the full black oem leather

Keep it simple. Don't go balls out right away. Make sure you know someone that is knowledgeable with Dsm's to help you along your path. If you do that you will learn more and more about your car and enjoy it more than hate it. Any questions just ask anybody on this site or just study all the articles in the forums like I do. Happy boosting! :)

I appreciate it hionboost. The 6 bolt swap was kinda of forced. The 99 gs I purchased someone was trying to put it in it. So I jumped on it not knowing it was a 6 bolt the guy said it was just a turbo motor which I needed. My dad is a very good mechanic with dsm experience do I will be okay with that part. I will ask questions in the future if needed.

My only words of advice is: Keep it simple. Set smaller goals that ultimatelly help you reach your end goal. You'll have a lot more fun with the car installing a few parts at a time and actually driving the car. Instead on taking on a ton of work, sitting on jackstands for an extended period of time, and getting burnt out on the project.

No picture of the interior but the car only has 75k miles on it

Unfortunately these are the goals I must reached to have a drivable car. I probably will need help with the 6 bolt swap in the near future. I do have everything I need to have a good running car as far as I know now it's just getting it done. I am only 15 so I have a little time. Thanks for the advice.

Congrats on your new car and welcome to the dsm life. Now there is a lot of hype on how unreliable our cars are. But that only comes from guys that don't know Jack about our cars. A word of advice from me to you is, maintenance over mods. your car has enough horsepower to hang in there with almost any stock cars out there today. First make sure the car runs well and then you can add mods.

Will do. Thanks for advice. I will definitely take long hard thoughts before I change or add something.

Nice car do lot of research before starting to work on it and make sure u get a plan on how you are going to do things. You dont want to start something to only find out ur missing parts or its the wrong one good luck

Do you guys recommend any certain link for the 6 bolt swap? If you used a certain one or think a specific one is very helpful could you please just post the link. Thanks

This passed Saturday I picked up a 2g head and intake for free with the other things I bought. Should I use this head on my 6 bolt block? I've seen many reasons why the 2g head is better than the 1g and vice versa. What would you guys recommend?

Now just like the head I've seen goods and bads on using 2g pistons in a 6 bolt block. Are they stronger than the 6 bolt pistons. Ik they are higher compression. Should I use them?

I believe a wiseman once posted that one has better Pistons and one has stronger piston rods. Either 6 or 7 bolt bottom end is tight to over 400hp. It's part of the reason people love these cars. And no offense but please do not build your car over 300hp until you have 3 or 4 years driving experience. We all want you to have a long and happy life. Nice looking car BTW.

It's not worth it, unless you have a Good machine shop or friend who does. To use 2g pistons on 1g rods you have to have the Pistons pin bored out 21 to 22. 1g rods are stronger than 2g and 2g pistons are alittle better than 1g. Once you pay to have all the machine done and all its just not really worth it. Better off getting proper Rods (Manley, eagle) and Pistons (Ross) for the 6bolt. Or if the originals are still good and check out clean and get new oem rings.
Also 7 bolt, is 8.5:1 comp vs
6 bolt, 7:8:1
Also if you wanna use the 2g head in 6bolt block. You will need to drill out each head stud hole to fit the bigger 6bolt studs. Other than that it will work and bolt right on.
