UPDATE: 7/20/2015

The DSM ShootOut is getting close! A buddy of mine and I ran over to Norwalk last Wednesday for the Wednesday Fun Night at Summit Motorsport Park. This was my first time EVER at a drag strip and it was AWESOME! I had a great time watching cars, bikes, trucks, etc run the 1320.

This experience really amped me up for the ShootOut as we also drove through Wakeman and my buddy showed me where everyone parks, where the dyno day is held, and all that. This will be the first time I’ll be attending the ShootOut and I am very very excited for this experience. I plan on using my GoPro as much as possible to capture everything I can.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be running Max Effort, but I was also told that Bracket is a lot of fun, especially if you and your car are dialed in.

My next AX event is this Saturday in the NEOhio region. This is the last event before the ShootOut, so hopefully all goes well.

Wanted to add a picture I found online.

I also picked up a free Stock AC fan. Im going to recondition it and sintall it where the normal rad fan is. Shouold give me a little more space and still have the same stock fan air flow and cooling. I love the stock fans, I could never justify spending the money for slim fan setups. Just my 2 cents.

UPDATE: 7/21/2015

Decided to paint my weighted shift knob CRP. Gives the interior a little more color than all the black/tan. I have NO idea why it looks so red in this picture, its actually a tad darker shade than the body color. Looks better in person.

I have an NEOhio region AX event this Saturday. Going to use this event to keep testing for the ShootOut. I have also been talking to a few car guys in the are about heading over to Summit next Wednesday to do some testing and what not. I have never drag’d Wendy, and id be lying if I said I wasn’t a little worried about launching on such a greatly prepped surface. During AX events the car will spin, but I feel at Summit, she will grip WAY more. So I want to get a feel for how the car will react to such a surface and of course, I don’t want to break anything.

I’m not 100% on going just yet. If I do, videos and ¼ mile numbers will be shared.

Great build, and like how you keep it updated alot, keep up the good work there

UPDATE: 7/26/2015

I was doing some street tuning before my event this weekend, and found that my passenger side wheel was loose. My first reaction was a bad wheel bearing after making sure my lugs were tight. Upon further inspection, I re-torqued the axle nut and she is all tight! This was the night before the race, and I was going to not run if I couldn't figure out the issue.

I ended up running and everything was all good.

I took 1st in Street Modified (SM). Fastest time of the day was 42.9xx, my fastest clean time was 44.2xx. Very happy with how the day went. Worked out some bugs and im very excited for the ShootOut.

UPDATE: 8/3/2015

Ive gone and done it! E85 is in and she is running top notch! I still need to spend some time with the tune. I spent A LOT of time fine tuning my 93 maps. Hopefuoly in the next few days ill be able to make some more adjustments. Ive already been able to add a lot of timing. On 93 pump, I was at 9 degrees of peak timing at WOT. On E85, im already up to 15, with zero knock. My SD map is still a tad rich, as getting into boost I see some 10.xx AFRS and never more than 11.0-11.3 AFRs at WOT. So I need to make some adjustments overall and smooth everything out.

Comparing my 93 logs with my newest E85 logs, link is showing a decent HP pick up, better spool, and the boost comes on quicker. Im pretty stoked to see what I can end up doing. I have yet to get my ARP studs in and turn the boost up. Im only at 21 pounds right now.

It’s been a while! So here goes.

I had an AutoCross in my Cleveland region on August 23rd. I chaired this event and made the course. I ended up taking 1st in my class, but ended the day early with a loose axle nut. I didn’t have the tools with me to tq it to spec so I got it tight and drove her home after the event. I will have a video put together soon.

Chillen in grid!

This past weekend, I ran with my old region in Erie, PA. This was also a course I made and it was a blast!! Super fast and seriously fun. Everyone had a great time! We were allotted 8 runs for the day. On my 6th run I came down the center stretch, hard on boost, braked and set the car for the banked turn and she completely died. I was unable to get her started, so we pushed her off the track and up onto the trailer.

Race rig ready for the haul!

IMG_20150912_151014_zpsaedo6m7t.jpg

At first, I was not hearing my fuel pump turn on with the key in, so I had thought that maybe I lost the pump or the relay went bad. She would turn over healthy, just wouldn’t fire up. After getting her back to Ohio, I pushed her into the garage. I hooked up link, and activated the fuel pump which turned on. Okay, cool. I then went to check for any stored CELs. There was 1, code P0335 – Crankshaft Position Sensor. Awesome! (not really) I cleared the code, and tried to see if she would A) start or B) throw the code again. She did neither. So hmmmm…..

I have not yet started to tear into her, as I needed to shimmy her around the garage to get her in a good spot to put her up on stands and start wrenching.

Plan:

- Check the wiring to the Crank Sensor.
- Pull the drivers side apart and check the sensor its self.
- Check for cranks shaft play. (then do happy dance or start crying)

I will update you all once I have more information. I plan on digging in a little this Saturday if I am able.

Ouch! Glad to see the motor is ok! And that sucks about the body...might be time to look for a new shell or go through a body shop and get that rewelded

She'll be back up in the matter of a few days as I have all new timing components coming in.

I will likely reshell the car at a later date. The body is bad in a few other places. I think it would be smarter to find a completely clean shell, and just maintian that, instead of spending the $$ to fix a shell that is already comprimised.

I agree completely. Best of luck!

Phew, thank god that wasn't any worse and the motor will see another AX!! How do you like towing with that truck? Mileage decent?

Thanks man!

She will surely seem more racing! Honestly, towing with the truck is pretty easy. I usually cruise 60-65 on the highway. Trailer brakes help a ton when stopping, especially in an emergency. MPGs towing is around 13-15 depending. So its not horrible and I do enjoy it.

UPDATE: 10/1/2015

Going to be tackling the new TB and components tonight. Wish me luck! This is the last push to make the last race of the season on Sunday.

Whats up guys.
After 8 years of DSM love, which included two 1g, GST's, a Celica GT4 and four 2g GST's, I finally found a beautiful GSX.

I picked her up for a steal.

Many more pictures to come.

PLANS: Mild Bolt on build. Can will see normal DD use, AutoX once a month, and possibly 2 or 3 track sessions.

I now understand exactly why everyone says to get an AWD DSM. :)

PICS!!

UPDATE: 10/2/2015

Timing Belt and components are on! I double checked everything I could and with the help of a buddy, I turned the key. She fired up and idled GREAT!!

However, the CEL stayed on and she was hesitating with throttle. I went to check it but my laptop was dead, so I will check that tonight after work.

I guess I should have actually read the article!

This is in the article section Cones & Strips.

"In the DSM category, Aaron Woloszyn dominated with the quickest lap of 40.611. This was the quickest in his division as well as the autocross class."
