So my (April 1989) 90 Laser has a different front brake setup than my previous Laser (After 4/89) Even the mounting brackets do not line up. So my issue is I would like to put a dual piston caliper setup, to upgrade the puny brakes. So do I have to change the spindles (to a later build) in order to do this? Anyone else have this issue.

Need to do the same with my June 1989 Laser build - have puny front brakes. Like to get larger rotors for more front end stopping power.

Not fun when you have to crunch down on the brake pedal and you barely lock up for the sudden needed stop.

Spindles are the same. Bolt up any 90 or later or the 93-94 dual piston. Just for reference 3kgt dual piston (NON TURBO) brakes are not exactly the same so do not mix and match junkyard parts. Piston sizes are different. They're fine to use bur you wanted a matched pair. Easiest to find junkyard is 3kgt non turbo. I haven't seen calipers at a parts store that come with brackets but If they do great. Some may charge a core since yours are not the same.

Thanks everyone for your input! Must have been the rotor was keeping me from bolting up the later build date caliper. The early build has a slide pin on top and bolt on bottom with just a slight capture on the top and bottom of the mount., where as the later build has 2 bolts and a full capture.
