Well first hello all I just picked up a built 98 gsx and have a quistion before I start pulling the head. I haven't updated my profile yet as I will be in a moment. I'm pretty sure I've narrowed the problem down to the head gasket. I got the car and the first drive I took about 30 min and came back and the overflow was boiling over so I searched and came up with changing the thermostat and the cap to a mishimoto 19psi and the upper radiator hose. Went for a drive stayed out of boost and it dulled up about halfway. Went out again this time a couple 2nd and 3rd gear pulls and came back and when I pulled in the drive way it started to overheat on the gauge. Never done that before so I killed it let it cool off and haven't driven it since. I ha e a Fluidyne radiator also with 2 fans. Fans are kicking on. Tested the thermostat my tuner for my subaru said he had a similar problem with a evo with the head lifting? So to make a long post even longer here's a mod list till I update my profile as I just created it. ..Tomei rods weisco pistons stainless steel valves bc valve springs bc 272 camshafts ferdaza adjustable cam gears. Catch can 660 denso injectors. Act 2900 clutch gates racing timing belt gm maf conversion. Precision 57/58 trim turbo tail blow off valve. Arp head studs. Arp connecting rod bolts. Acl main and rod bearings. Apexi 3 inch exshaust pacesetter header . Heat wrapped down pipe. Balance shaft eliminator. Big front mount intercooler. Fluidyne radiator 19lbs mishimoto radiator cap Jmfab race intake s90 throttle body. Ithe has a mls head gasket on it now but was thinking of ordering the felpro permatourqe. Any help is appreciated and glad to be here

Before tearing it apart do a couple tests. Do a coolant pressure check to look for leaks, and a hydrocarbon test to look for exhaust gasses in the cooling system.

The Felpro permatorque mls is a great gasket. Make sure the block and head surfaces are flat, and smooth enough before you install it.
