so i installed a cx racing radiator and two slim line fans into my 2g, drove it 20-30 miles in stop and go and traffic and on the highway at speeds under load. Never even got warm, until today when it almost pegged itself at max temp before I could get off of the road, spraying coolant out of my custom overflow. Turned the engine off left the key on. Fans didn't turn on so I waited for it to cool, filled it full of coolant, and jumped the high fan relay and drove it home with almost no issue (got a little hot still, maybe was still low on coolant). I jumped the cts and they didn't come on, tested the relays using the horn relay and they all came up fine, so what do I do next? It's annoying that I put $350 into the cooling system for it to overheat when it didn't even get warm stock

Yes I did, thermostat was what i had thought as well

Not familiar with the wiring in a 2g cooling system but I wanted to point out that you actually just down graded your cooling system. The stock fans are probably twice as efficient then your slim fans if they are just the cheap ebay fans. The stock cooling system works so well that the only reason you would need to change it is because of clearance issues.

Is it over heating in city driving or highway?

Clearance, and my stock water neck on the upper of the radiator broken off three times, only city driving, and they flow pretty well, my car was only running the left plastic fan at the time because the metal fan wasn't close to fittng

Reburp the system and while you at it check the thermostat while its warming up. Once the lower hose gets really hot you'll know that the valve opened and its good. If the system boils over before that happens its a bad water pump. If the system never fully burps you have a severe headgasket failure(a small one will only push under load/ can check with a pressure tester). If the fans never cycle you'll know its an electrical issue. (while you're at it, build a fan shroud if you dont already have one.)

Cooling systems are pretty easy to diagnose.

System re burped, no coolant was taken. Upper and lower hose were hot, still can't figure why the fans dont work

Most likely a wiring issue. Fans not coming on will cause your car to overheat almost instantly once at operating temp. Hopefully you didn't warp anything and cause severe damage.

Didn't get very hot befits I killed it, they were working fine at first now they don't come on ever, if I jump the relay they come on though

Did you check the 30A fuse?

A lot of people dive in head first and buy the highest flowing CFM fans they can find without reading the specs that really matter, what's the amperage draw? The stock fan fuse is 30A and it's not uncommon to see some of the higher flowing radiator fans pull 40A+...

Pop the fuse box cover and check the fuse labeled "Rad. Fan".

That was the first thing I checked it was good but to be sure I replaced it (had one with me)

Idk why people are in a hurry to switch out the stock fans. Stock fans are the best you will ever have. I did everything possible to keep mind when I switched my stock radiator for a mishimoto x line.

I would have kept them if they would have been able to fit, they are about an inch too big. They are wired together into the high and low of both

I had same issues back to one stock fan and one slim fan no more issues I also am running a large intercooler and off brand radiator. Can say for sure one stock fan move more air then slim fans and if i can fit the main stock fan in with a holset you can stuff one in to might take little trimming.
