Got the 99GSX, it's going in late next week, but it's a nice day out and thought I'd take a crack at seeing if I can get it to run right.

50 trim with bep housing
FIC 650 injectors
3'' downpipe
HKS Exhaust
FMIC
Greddy BOV
Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator
Injen Air Intake
ACT 2900 clutch
Walbro 255 FP

Not sure if it's the BOV or not, but no matter what I'm doing to the adjustment I'm still getting sputter at about 3700rpm @5psi. Car came with no Wideband, or boost controller, but I do have a boost gauge. Wideband and boost controller goes in when the car goes in next week but I thought I'd check with my DSM buds and see if anything jumps out at you.

PS- dont mind the splice job on the PTU.

It sounds like you are already going to put a boost controller on it, but an alternate route for the bov vacuum line such is suggested.

The filter should come off of the valve cover and just run a line to the intake if you choose not to use a sealed catch can.

Biggest issue would be a method of tuning it. What is compensating for the injectors? Wideband is also necessary.

Looks like a vacuum lines are a mess.... I have my bov line going to the port by the map sensor. I'm not sure what you have hooked up there? What are all those lines tied into at the fuel pressure port on IM?

The line under the sensor is going to the waste gate. No boost controller.

One is for the bov, the other looks to go to a boost gauge.

ProSport Boost Gauge.

As for the vac lines, yeah, I thought I remember that off the BOV we shouldn't T that in any way?

There are many diagrams on this site that reference vacuum routing, but I would suggest sticking with its original location.

Off topic, your engine is seriously clean lookin. I noticed you definitely have a different setup for the lines than I do. One of mine heads toward the firewall im assuming to the boost gauge, the other to the fuel rail/reg, the other to the BOV, then other to the intake

Thanks, I made a few changes to clean up a little more. But yes take that filter off on the valve cover and run a line to the air intake, change your bov line to I'M by sensor, and the boost gauge should by tied to the fuel pressure port. As for the waste gate, do you have a port on your turbo, lower intercooler pipe, or still have stock boost control solenoid?

Well here's how it lays out now with description of which line goes to where...

Here's a pic of the turbo itself.

So no tuning for those injectors? Do you have an afpr for that 255
Ah, that's the other part i have that they are installing next week. Forgot I got it yesterday.

I just installed the 650's a few days ago. So i know damn good and well it needs a tune. Like I said, just trying to do what I can while I have it. The more I do, the less they charge me for LOL

Love how all of this was covered in post #3..............

You should do some research on tuning to compensate for your larger injectors. For your immediate needs, I may suggest an SAFC for the cheapest solution. It will compensate for the injectors you have. Many other solutions exist such as ECUflash/tactrix if you have a compatible ecu, or DSMLink.

Wideband is necessary for any of these solutions.

Until then, you should install stock injectors and stay out of boost until your mechanic installs your parts.

All of the items you are taking in to be done for you should be quite easy with many resources on this site along with VFAQ. If you installed your injectors, you could do the gauges.

If you don't have a way to tune for those mods that will cause a lot of problems. Either tune or put stock fuel parts back in.
I have a feeling this guy gutted most of his easy removable aftermarket parts before he sold it to me. The car came with stock injectors, and the current turbo setup. So that was no bueno.

Luckily this isn't my daily driver. The SAFC was on my list after payday, so that may help. I'm spending the weekend removing all his stereo crap that is draining the hell out of the car even running. Lights dim and everything. Also no bueno.

Project car indeed. LOL Thanks for the assistance everybody

Yeah most people stripped them down before selling. Since your doing most of the work you don't need a mechanic, these cars will make a mechanic out of you:D. I know a lot of people use the black box for those years, but ecmlink is awesome, very user friendly, and you'll learn to tune your on car.
