16AUGUST2013 - 21st Annual DSM/EVO/GTR Shootout : Car Show & Dyno
The Friday before the Shootout the city of Wakeman closes down the street that runs in front of Buschur's shop and the street's lined with some of the fastest DSM's, Evo's, Galant VR-4's, and StarQuest's in the world. Definitely makes a person a bit humble when most have these guys have forgot more than I will ever know about these cars, they've been doing before I was 10 years old.

We got to Buschur's shop fairly early considering we stayed up until 3am and didn't go to bed sober. Great times with GREAT company though, then it was nothing but cars all day!

17AUGUST2013 - 21st Annual DSM/EVO/GTR Shootout : AutoX & Drag Racing

--- AUTOCROSS ---
The day had finally come, it was time to actually watch all these Mitsubishi's/Eagles do what they built to do... go fast and break. ;) Eric had entered into the OS AutoX class so as soon as we pulled into the parking lot it was time to prep the car. I really didn't do much but Eric trusted me with his tire pump/pressure tester to getting his tire pressures set, he doesn't know it but I ran 10psi less than he asked in the FR/BL tire. :sneaky: KIDDING!

Thomas Dorris and Brian were both auto crossing the 4G63 equipped SLR and after a few runs Brian asked if I wanted to sit shotgun for one of them and see what it was like. I'd never been around an auto cross course before so doing it for the first time in a go cart with your ass a few inches off the ground was interesting. The floorboards were open and Brian ate a cone halfway through the course in the SLR, I would have jumped out of my seat if the 5-point wasn't holding me down since it looked like it was going to come up through the bottom of the nose of the car. As soon as we crossed the finish line and made it back into the pits I noticed Eric was sitting in line to make another lap so he let me jump in with him, I'm not going to lie but I felt a lot more comfortable in the 2g than the SLR. To my mistake though I assumed the 2g was going to be a lot slower through the turns/straights than the SLR, boy was I wrong. Eric actually pushed his 2g through the course faster than the SLR and it was VIOLENT around those corners, I stepped out of that car with a huge grin on my face and excited to drive my 2g since Eric had the same DG Koni suspension. It was a good thing I jacked with his tire pressures or else that car would have swept the competition! LOL

Onto the pictures...

BTW... Did anybody catch this dumas? I didn't see this until I watched the BR 2013 DVD that /J released but it was worth a rewind I laughed so hard.

17AUGUST2013 - 21st Annual DSM/EVO/GTR Shootout : AutoX & Drag Racing
--- Drag Racing ---
After Eric finished up with autocross we made it over to the straight line racing that I'm a bit more familiar with, I've always thought my DSM was fairly fast but watching these guys really sinks you into your chair. 11's were fast in '95 when these guys started in the DSM community... :toobad:

18AUGUST2013 - 21st Annual DSM/EVO/GTR Shootout : Drag Racing
The fun was almost over but the best was yet to come, the competition got a lot more serious on Sunday. There were a lot of fast times and a lot of people breaking off the tree after dumping their drivetrain.

18AUGUST2013 - 21st Annual DSM/EVO/GTR Shootout
The fun was over and the weekend had come to an end, we all gathered to say our goodbyes and everyone was already talking about plans for next years Shootout. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have skin cancer, if its one thing I learned you can never have too much sunscreen at the Shootout.

I was fortunate enough to rope everyone together and get a DSMTuners site staff photo, with some other friends tossed in the mix. What a great group of guys and I couldn't wait to go back to Ohio the next chance I got...

30OCTOBER2013 - 2014 DSMTuners Calendar Photo Shoot
Seems like every year it gets tougher to get enough calendar entries for the calendar so, just incase, I drove my car to the end of the block I live on and take some pictures where it dead ends into the cornfield. One of the cornfield photos ended up in the calendar, which surprised me since I was across the street from my house and didn't have much for scenery.

I take it thats someone taking off their radiator cap at the end of post 455? You didn’t need a bunch of scenery with a car aesthetically pleasing as yours :thumb:

Yea, it's classic in the video because they played it in slow motion so you can see the cap coming off and that hot ass coolant just slowly start to geyser into his face. Worst reaction time I've ever seen... LOL
Gotcha! ;)

So are you ever going to give us more updates, or do you just like making us wait to torture us? But seriously, your car is beautiful and I am loving this thread, keep up the good work

I wish that was the case, never have the time to sit down and update the build. If you notice I'm still over a year behind where the build is currently... Someday I'll catch up though, then it will a lot easier to keep the build active since it will be an "as I go" post not trying to play catch up from 9yrs back.

I appreciate the compliments though, I'm trying!

Yep. Still there too, it actually happened not 2 mos. after I bought the car in Feb. 2006.

To fix it the entire door needs replaced, someone backed up into it and folded the front edge of the door around the hinge so body shops won't pull it and I don't want 1lb. of bondo on it either. I actually bought a R87 painted door in good condition just a few months ago that I plan on installing, just trying to get the other stuff done first since appearance seems to always take a back seat to function.

Man! The pictures of the rear subframe are just carporn. Loved it.
By the way that blue Talon on post 451 its just eye candy, truly beautiful.

Thanks for the compliments, I do love that subframe that @99gst_racer built but I hardly get to see it because it's tucked and hidden under the car.

If you're talking about the 1gb Talon, that's Aaron Ruppert's (I think he goes by highbooost on the forums) and if you're talking about the 2gb Talon, that's Beau Anderson's and his name on the forum is Xavier. They're both clean DSM's, it's impressive that Beau's 2gb Talon has over 200,XXX miles on the paint and it still looks like that.

It took 3 days off and on and in between breaks to read everything. This has got to be one of the most informational and inspirational build profiles I've ever seen. Makes me wanna go get my gst from the body shop and find a good donor for my awd build. Very nicely balanced build you have. I commend you sir.

Thanks man. Comments like that make me want to sit down and finish the updates to current day, I'm still 2yrs+ behind!

Glad you took the time to read through it and thanks for the compliments. Be sure to start a build thread of your own when you get that car back.

Now that I have another red 2gb gsx that is worth spending time and money on, this build thread is going to provide all sorts of inspiration. This has always been my favorite car on the forum. I can't wait for more updates!
