Hey so I drive a 420A 95 Eclipse RS

This just started tonight - I pulled in and put on my parking brake and the brake light turns on (on the instruments panel) per usual. What is weird is tonight when I put on the brake the CEL started flickering, not entirely lighting up but it was kind of a weak flicker. It only does it (I played with it for a minute) when the engine is on and the park brake is on. Didn't make a difference if I had my lights on or not. Doesn't happen if the engine is off, even if the key is turned to on.

The only thing I've done recently is replaced the fuse for my dome lights about a week ago & I put in a new door jamb switch on the driver side door.

I don't know if I have a code it's 10 PM sorry. Any ideas?

It might be that either your alternator is dying or you have a wire w/ a less then ideal connection.

I lean against the wiring because when I turn the car on it lights up and turns off like normal.

Bad alternator...?

Yeah alternator makes everything go goofy. Wouldn't be a bad idea to check your voltage while the car is on and off. Just to get that out of the way. I know my instrument panel lights do goofy things like that when my alt takes a dump

So I didn't have a chance to check anything today I was busy.

Driving home from work tonight I now see it does it not only with the brake on but if I'm idling (either moving in neutral or just parked). It starts when I'm moving if I hit the clutch and coast in neutral once the RPMs drop to idle.

I got a video but I'm also going to check the voltage and see about the alternator - I've had some tension problems on the belt in the past so I'll check that. It's just never appeared in this manner before.

Hi Josh96, did you fix this problem? My car started to have the same thing. Most of gauges flicker a bit but you can only see that when it's dark. I have had my alternator checked and it's good.
I am wandering if anyone had solved this problem in a situation where their alternator was not the problem.
Any idea?
