The implementation is a bit of a hack job. As motomattx said it's for switching between versions of software in that EPROM.

That wire is switching Address Bit 12 on the EPROM between a 1 and 0. Since it's the highest order address bit on that chip, it's selecting the code in one half of it of the other.

You'll have to read out the EPROM to know exactly what's different between the two images in the chip to see if it's a E85/Gas tune setup or two different tunes for the same fuel.

That's typically how it's done. You connect the wire to one terminal of the switch and connect the other terminal to a ground. Then you can choose between the two unknown tunes. :)

When you decide on DSMLink send the ECU in to have that stuff removed and get a better socket installed.
