Ok guys bare with me as I am new to the whole online forums etc..

I have a 97 gsx built 6 bolt block
Aries Pistons Eagles rods eagle crank etc, stock 7bolt head with crower 272s
650cc injectors 190walbro rewired
Punishment fmic
Fp3052 with tail external waste gate (38mm vband)
Full 3" exhaust tuning on ecmlink V2
I'm sure I'm forgetting more mods but that's the main stuff.

I've been trying to tune this fp3052 for about a week now. But anything over 17psi I'm dealing with some knock.
Even on 17psi I'm seeing 1.7knock retard in 3rd and about 2.5knock retard in 4th gear.
Air fuel ratio is 10.7-11.1 through out the whole rpm. Idc is at 60-75%
I've heard of ppl running 20-25psi on pump gas with the fp3052 so I'm kinda at a lost right now.

I've done boost leak tests I've checked for vacuum leaks, checked base timing ect and set it to 5* advance, bought new plugs br7es and gapped at 25
Everything checks out great but I just can't get rid of that knock.

Any input would be great, tia

What is your timing curve look like? Keep timing low during peak torque and high at redline. How low or high depends on boost. I would just turn the boost up to where you want it and give it the timing it likes. If the car is fast, well there you go. If its slow, look for problems.

What intercooler do you have?

EDIT: Also, those injectors are too small for that turbo.

At only 17psi I'm taking away 1degree of timing from 4500-6500 because of knock.
The max timing I'm seeing is only 14*
I just don't get why it's knocking so much?
I want to up the boost to at least 20-22psi but with this knock issue I'm having I don't think that will happen.
& yes I know the injectors are small I was going change them out once they got to 90% idc, I have a pair of 1150cc fic

IDK why you don't already have the 1150s in. I was pushing the 680s with my 20g, and quickly swapped to 1050s. Besides when you hit 23-25 psi you will want more, and nothing will convince you not to turn it up.

I would check to make sure your AFRs are matching well, and avoid sudden jumps in timing targets. 20g is a slightly smaller turbo, (very smaller turbine) and I could get ~28 psi on meth injection, ~25 psi on 93oct fyi.

See that's what everybody is telling me, I should be able to run more boost. But this knock issue isn't letting me.
Afrs are right I'm trying to keep them below 11:0 11:1 max the timing chart is stock 2g haven't really messed with it besides taking away 1degree at 4500-6500 to avoid setting my cell light off (3degrees of knockret)
I set my base timing with a timing light and set it to 5* advance. Idk if that has to do with anything.

I got your message. We need to see a datalog to be able to help you. You can post it here if you need, or email it to me [email protected]. I will not be able to look at it for a few more hours as I am at work but, there are a few tricks to making power on pump gas. It is still garbage and you can only go so far but, can still have a fun car. We tuned an FP green car two weeks ago on pump gas and his wastegate actuator limited us to 22psi or I would have kept going.

Thanks man I would appreciate the help!
My laptop is shit though let me see if I can Post a log, never really done that before

I dont see anything in your profile, I assume this is a dsmlink car? Again, you can attach a log in an email reeally easy.

Yes I'm sorry I need to update the profile.
But yes the car is on ecmlink.
My computer is a pos and doesn't let me be on the Internet for more then 30 seconds, it has a virus or something I only use it for ecmlink. I'm on the forums through my iPhone :(
Maybe I can post a video of a log? Or is there any other way?

Flash drive? We need to be able to look at everything you have going on. I likely can navigate faster as I know where we need to be and what I am looking for. Access to another computer?

Let me see if I can get access to another computer. My buddy has link also on his laptop

Might be a dumb question but can you explain how to email a data log? I know how to save a data logs but I don't know how to email them.

I only got 12 degrees of timing up top when I had a 16g and pumpgas. Granted that was at 24psi and I still trapped 113mph. Lower your timing, set your boost, and move on from there. 2g's don't push a lot of timing on pumpgas so don't worry.

There are so many things to worry about when it comes to tuning. Coolant temperature and AIT's are very important. Do your exhaust parts have heatshields? Is your air filter sucking in hot air? You have only pulled 1 degree so that might be your issue. Timing at peak torque might have to be quite a bit lower than where you have it set hence why I asked you what your timing curve looks like.

Lower the timing from 4k to redline by 4 degrees. Set your boost to where you want it. Increase timing in each cell 1 degree at a time until you see knock. Tune for ZERO knock, not until your CEL turns on.

Open NEW email. Go to INSERT/ATTACH and browse to where you save you logs. Locate datalog and INSERT/ATTACH and send. But if you can browse to your file and email I don't see why you can't upload the log through the site.
