My 420a Eclipse only starts to smoke heavily when it reaches operating tempeture my questions to day.

New headgasket was my first thought

Second thought was maybe bad gas?? What pump gas should i be using in my 420a ive been using Regular gas. Not the special stuff that my buddys buick gs runs off of.

I like geting special opinions it always helps.

Miles on the car under 80k

Its just a clear white smoke , that only occurs dureing operating tempeture.

My car is straight piped if that has anything to do with it.

White usually means coolant is being burned, and pretty good sign of a failed head gasket. I would do a compression test ASAP and see which cyl it is. Then pull the head have it checked/or check yourself with a good true straight edge for warpage and go from there. Do your timing and water pump, new thermostat, head gasket and studs. Then any other seals and what not you can while its apart and you should be good to go for years :) Rockauto has a good kit for your motor check them out.

Will do its very close to being my work car , rims and head gasket is my next step , compression test how could I get this done?? All this stuff is simple and yet achievable. :)

Go to any auto parts store and buy a $20-40 compression tester. Then you pull the spark plugs and test each cyl one at a time. You need to disable spark and or fuel. So either unplug the injectors or main engine fuse. Then use the ignition key and crank the motor 6-8 revolutions and then check gauge numbers. Anything in the low numbers is your problem cyl. Plenty of info on here how to do it.

Seems fun , the only task that acuely seems to worry me is re-timing the motor. Not scared of it on a 4g63 because theres so many videos on how to , but 420a not so many. I'll go get the compression tester asap I hate it smoking it looks bad.

Thanks man , I'll start to read over the tech articals. First before the head gasket theses headers have to go on. Already have the stock log off.

Ima take her to a family friend and do the head gasket work with him.
