Also have to build a full exhaust since the 4" side pipe isn't allowed. Start of my 3" downipe. Trying to keep sharp bends to a minimum, wrap around my existing WG dump tube, not interfere with oil filter removal and also make enough space for the wide band and moroso crank case evac before downpipe goes under the car....

Hope to finish weld the downpipe tomorrow and a 3" to 4" transition with a 4" vband and start on the 4" aluminum exhaust with a vibrant aluminum muffler.

Downpipe complete. Working on the 4" aluminum exhaust next. Welds directly off flex section aren't mine, but I have to own the others, good or bad;)

Props to you! Amazing car. Having been in the performance exhaust industry for more than 15 years, I can tell you that DP route will do pretty good things for your set up. Sure it's not the straight dump and I know you did this so you can compete in MAX effort, but the forward routed transition you used for clearances will actually provide improved flow gains in this particular case with minimal turbulence likely. Good work.

Thanks for the kind words! It's a little tighter off the turbo than I would like, but had hoped it will work well and should be better than the typical really tight bend straight down off the turbo. I don't have the fab skills to try to fit a 3.5" off the turbo so the 3" will have to do. It is all swappable back to the side exit though:D

4" Aluminum exhaust is complete with strategic hammer blows for clearance so I could tuck it up.

Yes going to shootout. My first one. May do Max Effort. If not, Street Eliminator. Lots of work to do yet. Exhaust is good to go. Hooking up trans temp gauge and trans cooler fan. Also need to install my coilovers, poly subframe and control arm bushings, power steering and get it aligned.

USB is for AEM. 3.5mm stereo jack to head unit

Weighed my car today. 1/4 tank of E, 3260 without me. 3460 with. Misc crap in car (computer, big fire extinguisher, small tools). Coilovers should offset power steering install. Not bad for a car that started at 3790 curb weight and the only real amenity missing is AC.

Coilovers on...

Aligned. Power Steering installed. Bumper back on. See you all at the shootout!

Great to meet everyone!! Next time I'll put enough E85 in the tank to not pull air in 1st gear and hit my AEM engine safety lean out protection limits. :banghead:Thank you AEM:D Splashed a couple gallons of E in it when I got home today and it pulled great from a launch in 1st through 2nd. 0-60 in 2.9 vs 4.4 on my shootout runs. Let the benchracing begin:D

Hell yeah man, so happy to see everything working out for you. I think I'm gonna go with your exact turbo setup for awhile, while I build the twin-scroll setup. Looks like you're enjoying it very well. And glad to see the OEM 4G64 DOHC gasket is working out under that boost/o-ring setup!

This is such an amazing car, would love to have this combo. I always liked the 3000gt a bit more than the eclipse honestly. Great fab skills too.

You know you can get a set of hood support shocks for around $60, would really top off that bay so no stick ;)

Those cars come with hood struts. They don't work well with carbon hoods.

Yeah I thought they came with them. Oh I didnt realize it was CF. Yeah the ones we got say not to use with CF, I assume cause it will crack at the mounting spots. I'd think it would work better cause so light.

I love my axe handle hood prop. Stashes well behind the seat. And yes, it's a carbon hood; super thin.

Thanks for the kind words.

Cracked, yep the oring and OEM composite is working well so far. Turned the boost up from 29 to 33. Not pushing it super hard yet though.

Long overdue update...Ended up driving around and beating on it every weekend at up to 38psi. Quite a bit faster than the 28psi that trapped 128 at shootout. :D

Unfortunately, I fell prey to the dreaded oil filter demon. Lost all of my oil before I noticed and was too late. Down for winter build. Trying out 2.0. 10:1 Wiseco HD with Manley H Beam. Oringed the block. Blocked oil squirters. Back from machine shop for hone, open up rod side clearance and crank polish. Just need to clean everything and assemble. And of course make a clamp that prevents filter from backing off.

Since weather is turning, I may tear into the car to take out some hidden weight. Currently 3300 lbs. Oh, and install a dry-shot kit that is sitting on the shelf to get on converter fast.

I debated for awhile on 2.4, 2.3 and 2.0. Ultimately, it was because I wanted a little more revs and it's what I had available. I was actually pushing to make a local event a couple weeks ago. Had Pistons, Rods etc shipped 2nd day to me but then machine shop fell through at the last minute.

When I was checking my parts stash, the spare 100MM crank I had needed too much work. The spare 2.4 block I have is definitely usable but needs an over bore and I wanted std for as much head sealing area as possible.

I had a 2.0 short block that was in very good condition. Thought I could get it together in time but oh well.

I am very curious the difference of 2.4 to 2.0. Everything else will be the same. Keeping HX40 (for now;)), keeping stock intake mani (for now) and keeping kelford 280/288 cams. Both builds are 10:1 Pistons. Wiseco 2.0 10:1 are nearly flat top, where the Manley 2.4 10:1 needed a dish for the larger bore and stroke. Will be a true back to back.

If I keep 2.0, there could be many changes including billet converter, slightly smaller cams with a Magnus intake and the HX40 will be replaced with something larger no matter what size engine.

Running 35psi currently. Ready for the track and turn up the dial:D

May have a little downtime over the Holiday. If so, going to build a few 4g swap engine mounts.
