Jan 11, 2011: Apparently I was the last person on this board to realize that OBX adjustable cam gears were timing marked very inconsistently.

OBX has no QC. Additionally anytime you install new cam gears, you should rely not on the cam gear marks but rather the dowel reliefs in the camshaft near the cylinder #1 lobes, regardless of brand of cam gear.

I updated my profile information. I no longer have any OBX products on my vehicle. I converted to AEM adjustable gears. As far as the positioning, I learned my lesson a few days ago haha, committed it to memory.

Jan 13, 2011: Got everything back together and wiring completed. Took the car out for a test drive and WOW what a difference. The car pulls like only those of you who've experienced a build like mine would know. Its amazing to say the least. PROBLEM: found my Fidanza 3.2 clutch to have been worn out on tear down and the only replacment I had was the modular centerforce clutch. It can't hold the power. It slips right when I need it to be holding the load the most.

Trying to obtain a stronger clutch as we speak, in hopes of seeing the Dyno sometime in the next 4 weeks.

how much boost are you pushing through that thing?

i imagine i know how hard your car pulls. running 26psi on a no holds barred built 420a is an amazing experience.

at the track i ran the venge and it spun through 4th gear even when i was short shifting like mad. crazy amount of power for fwd.

i know a lot of people don't like spec, but the venge has a spec stage 4 that handled all that power just fine. i believe it's rated at 400 ft-lbs. it also was an (i think) un-sprung so it doesn't chatter or make noise or any thing that would make you think its not a stock clutch (besides the fact its a lot stiffer, and it holds a lot of power).

I've only let it see 18lbs so far. I really need to dial the portfueler in, as well as monitor any knock occurrences, before I step it up. I'm examining alternative fuel options and methanol again before the run.

Sitting here I'm thinking back on when I first started out, how I thought I'd be happy with turbo kit and an FMU. Now I'm two grand away from an all out race car haha... funny how obsession works like that. 420a lover right here guys.

TOTAL: $9309.00

and many more dollars on Gas, shipping, countless hours of downtime, 30.00 oil changes just about monthly and other associated costs I don't want to even think about. With the chassis purchase, interior stereo system and wheels plus paint, I've spent over 13,000.00 for this car and I just bought it one year ago, haha.

if you start going for bigger boost, you might want to check into the Hahn big fmic. is core is like 29x10x3 (so its huge) and is the best ic out there imo. its sort of pricey in the $600 range, but its worth it trust me. at 26psi at the track, where the hot pipe was blistering, the intake pipe was always the same temp as the air. can't stress how much this IC just freaking rocks.

my spearco is 30x10x3 I don't think I need any different intercooler haha.

March 22, 2011: Today is the last day I owned this car. Ended up trading it for an RX8. The good news is, I will still be doing the tuning for the new owner and will still be posting up a dyno sheet when we hit the dyno.

We're taking the car to the dyno as soon as we get the transmission back in. So bout a week or so. We'll see what things are looking like then. (sorry for the late update)

Dec 2, 2011: After replacement transmission was installed, the 2nd HAHN porfueler control box failed. The internal map began reading incorrectly and fuel maps were useless. Will be installing MS in a piggy back fashion now, but may unfortunately have to wait until January/February from time constraints.

This car will make it to the Dyno, that is for certain! just slow going. Thanks for watching.

MS as in Mega Squirt? If so dont do it in piggy back. Get the MSII and do full standalone. I think they have a write up to do a 2g. You will be happier with the MS in full standalone. But so far nice work!

although I'm still doing the work to the car, I don't own it anymore. I traded it for an RX8. I just made a deal with the new owner to continue on with my goals doing free labor and tuning, if he bought the parts.

He doesn't know much about cars and wants it to remain factory operational. Told him we could replace the failing HAHN unit with MS for the same price and he could go full stand alone in the future as he learns more about the car.

So the initial dyno run will be while MS is setup piggy back style. If he wants to do a rebuild and go full standalone in spring, I'm down w/that.

the components are all there for the car to do 11's, so we'll see if I can put my money where my mouth is an capture that. For him and for me.

NOV 23, 2012: Car is back in my shop again. Rather than installing the MS, the Splict Second AIC1-G4H with data acquisition is being installed. This is essentially what they sell to HAHN as their "portfueler" but with an additional 4 aux ports for data acquisition. My AEM X-wifi will be feeding the aux port 1 with the AFR. In addition, an external voltage regulator is being installed.

When everything is together, I'll post a special video :thumb:

July 4, 2015: Car has been through two more owners. Never got to the dyno, and now, this month, I have finally purchased her back! This thread will get to it's goal at some point. Have to complete a full tear down and inspection first. followed closely by paint work.

October 24, 2018: Built the car back up, ran her on the dyno with 10psi and hit 230 hp. Decided to get an ignition setup first before hitting 26 psi. We'll see what happens on the dyno in about two months. #NeverGiveUP
