The story:
K I did the blow through set up about 5 months ago. Everything was fine.. Some time in January I replaced all wires and spark plugs. It ran pretty smooth then. There were no boost leaks! On March 10th or so I bought another eclipse and started driving it.. My 2g gsx has sat since then until the other day. It died on me the first time i started it. I took it for a spin and it ran like crap! At 3k rpms, it would cut out and anytime I would give it a lot of gas it would cut out and fall on its face. I am thinking something in the ignition, but there is no backfire in the exhaust? So another thing I was thinking about was my coil pack? When I punch into it, it feels like a HORRIBLE missfire, and cuts out a lot. I can't go past 2800-3000 Rpms when there is load. In neutral, I can free rev to any RPM just fine. It will idle ok too.

O2 sensor perhaps? Did you check to make sure no IC pipes blew off or anything?

Yeah, i've had my head burried in the motor that pas day or so :( All pipes, sensors, and vac lines are secure.. It is throwing two codes.. (It's been throwing these codes for two years now though)
Heater circuit malfunction (02 sensor i'm guessing?)
and too excess time to enter closed loop fuel conrol.

Theres a dude at my work running a bigger turbo on his stock fuel set up on his celica and he can't give it too much gas due to the bigger turbo. I don't know how much boost your pushing but that might be the problem. The way I see it, if there isn't enough fuel to spark, then it could possibly feel like a missfire. And if your pushing in more boost than your fuel pump can provide, there won't be much there at all. Just a thought :talon:

I have never turned the boost up. If I had the supporting fuel mods I would turn it up a bit.. I'm going to buy some bpr6es plugs and gap them.. (Which is what I have in there now, but I didn't check the gap when I put them in.. :coy: )Hopefully its not the wires, they aren't cheap!

Well, I just put in new spark plugs. NGK bpr6es that are gapped at .032
It did not help at all :( I did notice that the plugs that I took out were really black and gapped at .028 I also noticed that there is a small amount of white smoke coming out of the exhaust.. Could a leaky gasket be the cause of this whole problem? I have DSM link, so is there any way I can check to see if there are any non working solenoids or anything? I am also beginning to think a faulty fuel pump.. I also sprayed WD40 around the block and all over the throttle body elbow to see if that would bog it down any.. it didn't, so I suppose thats good. Anyone have any other thoughts?? ICS, coil, fuel pump, fpr??

Check your O2 sensor, MAF, and MAP sensors. Any one of those could be bad.

Last time i had symptoms like that on my last car, its was my MAF

I unplugged the MAF and it idled CRAZY! So, I ruled the maf out.. (Unless under load the MAF could be faulty???)

As for the sea foam.. I will give that a try hopefully tomorrow, but it feels like I'm on a gamble.. If the sea foam won't clear it, I will have sea foam in my motor and gas and have it still cutting out which can't exactly be good..

So I'm pretty sure it was a small boost leak..... :beatentodeath:
I checked it all out but guess not well enough. I put the sea foam in my gas and drove it and it was still cutting out. I was mad so I put my foot to the floor and I could hear a light hissing noise that kept getting louder every time I would romp on it. I was grinning ear to ear when I pulled in my drive way because I knew exactly where it was coming from! :D
I think boost leaks are like an STD.. you'll get one if you trust your dsm enough not to give you one...

OK I'm having a similar problem with my 97 spyder GS over the past month I have done new valves and guide seals new head gasket new plugs new crank sensor hydrolic tensioner and lift lash adjusters balance shaft and timing belt. Now have it all put together but if my rpm goes over 3000 it will die I have checked and my timing is spot on. Have no idea what the deal is but if I can't figure it out by the end of the 4 of July weekend I will scrap the car and just fix my wife's 97 rs.
