Hey, I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me or give some advice. I am looking at replacing my stock exhaust on my 98 eclipse GS (N/T). I have been looking around at different cat backs and I am not sure what brand I should by. I don't know a whole lot about cars but I am good at researching about it. Would any one please give me some advice on what kind of cat back system I should buy and from where? Is eBay any good or is it so cheap for a reason? Thanks!

Get:

Ebay header and downpipe combination, use the stock piping to a universal Borla Offset muffler.

Great sound, easy setup. Cheap and very effective.

Yeah, I was looking at something like this Megan catback in this link, the only thing is that I am not sure if the 4.5'' tip will look too big and I was hoping to find something similar for cheaper on eBay.

I went with the eBay BBP Catback exhaust for my RS. very cheap and great fitment, I also later purchased a header and dowwnpipe from the same company and it sounds really good.

A stock FWD GST or a FWD TSI catback would bolt right up. The piping is bigger and it gives that "stock" appearance with added performance.

Sweet, thanks guys for the advice. Another question, how easy is it to replace my catback with the new one? I don't know much but if it is fairly simple I would like to do it myself instead of paying someone. Is it welded on or just hangers?

Hes on a non turbo.

Should be just hangers. But you can weld it together but I like hangers. Sometimes the vendors suck at the brackets so you have to be creative. Like I got the universal hangers from parts store and just bent them to fit. It works.

No modifications needed. A FWD turbo catback will bolt up to a 420a, hangers and all.

Catback should fit all fwd 2gs. DP may be different. I am very pleased with my DNA motoring catback. Fitment, including hangers, was perfect. $102 shipped. It's got a 4.5" tip, but it doesn't look obnoxious or stick out too far. The muffler is offset, n1 style but looks appropriate on my TSi. It sounds like a freakin chevelle (of course, I also eliminated the cat). So I'm sure it would be a little quieter with a cat. Very deep and throaty at lower rpms. I love it.
