I am specifically wondering the hp rating of the acl aluglide bearings.

Seems most run acl race, thats what was in the engine, but now need some new .25, bought acl race .025 which are now useless to me. Budget is low now so, $60 aluglide, kings, clevite, or $120 for acl race?

I asked the shop if the crank would polish up to .025 over, they came back and said yes so thats what I ordered. Well really the did 10/10 so .25mm over. But I should have looked at the tag a month ago when we got it back and ordered the bearings then...

Im upset about having the wrong ones in first place so still ranting a bit, sorry for that.

Are you sure you have the wrong bearings? .025" is an odd size they are usually in increments of 0.010"

As far as choices, and HP ratings, there really isn't a rating. The ACL Race, and other Tri Metal or HD bearings are for a severe duty application.

The factory bearing is similar to an ALuGlide in my opinion. And we all know the stock ones hold up at 500whp pretty well.

The ACL race and like, are very hard and when there is contamination in the oil it does not imbed, and it scratches the crank. The ALUGlides are much softer and dirt is supposed to imbed and not harm the crank.

That being said, I'd say 600hp or more put Race bearings in it. 500whp race if your going to beat it, aluglides if it's cruising.

cool, I'm gonna save the $70 and run the kings

Probably gonna tear down again early next year and put in a manly crank, bigger turbo, cams, ect, anyway.

Yes, acl offers in .025 for "a bit worn engines" I've been told. I was confused on what the shop did and between mm and inches.

When I pull bearings out of 500+ hp engines, regular kings, and acl's sometimes have flaking of the bearing material on the rod bearings 10-20* off center when they are handling peak cylinder pressures. That being said, race bearings require really clean assembly, and a sealed engine with no unfiltered air going in anywhere.

Regular king bearings should last forever on a 350hp engine with good oil.

On a proper tune, I don't doubt King aluminum bearings could handle 350bhp. Of course, knock all over the place at high pressures, incorrect timing, or lean AFR, and it will beat them senseless... but they're more forgiving over the long run.

I'm running KingXP mains and their tolerances and oil path design blow ACL out of the water. Add to that two batches of ACL bearings that had gouges in them from the factory under the wrapper, and they're no longer allowed in my vehicles.

Well like I said if it can last til next spring then great. I think well go king xp's next time too. Funny you mention the scratches on the acl,s the ones I just pulled out had the same things, 3 of the mains and a little scratch on the edge.

Oh and as far as tuning it has plx boost oil and wideband gauges, ecu+, 850's 20g, fmic, halman boost controller, rewired walbro 255, 3" catless, ect...

I forgot to take a comparison pic but, acls look like piles of dog crap to the kings imo. I know the acl's are the color they are from tri metal and heat treated, but they had rough edges, didnt sit in the caps as well, the small scratches on mains straight out of package. As someone also said the Kings also have far superior oil groves, theres extra ones on all the bearings plus 3 on the thrust while the acl has 2, I think the holes were actually bigger too. Now I really wish I would have taken a comparison pic because the photo above of that I ordered is a stock and not quite what mine looked like.

Anyway very happy with them especially for $50, will upgrade to the Xp's next year. In the future it will only be King for me.

Like I have said many times, once you look at and use a set of Kings you wont ever want to touch a piece of junk ACL again.

I am putting new main bearings and thrust bearings I have the bearings out and I don't know what size they are the main bearings say d51 and the thrust bearings say d5j any help on what size these may be
