So yesterday I had gone ahead and moved my outter tie rod ends inward to correct a bit of + Toe. Part of my tire was wearing fast because it ran on the outer tread. Afterwards I took it for a test drive and there was a grinding noise that worsened on left turns. Upon further inspection I found that the top corner of the caliper began grinding on the wheel. Both bolts are still in and I read somewhere that it could have been a pothole that bent the wheel. I dont believe the wheel is bent (although PA potholes are the worst in the country and you could freely swim in a few of them...). Ive also read that there could be a loose clip? I think I adjusted to far and pushed the caliper out, but even at that point the caliper is mounted in one place at all times and the wheel is parallel on the hub and I cant imagine that gap closing from a tie rod. Any help is appreciated.

There has to be something going on with the caliper, its bolts, or the way it's mounted. Something is not right and no way you're ever going to bend the wheel straight in toward the axle like it would have to do to do that. Pull the wheel back off if it is back on and compare it to the other sides caliper to see what may be different.

I'll give it a try when the rain calms down a bit. Im gonna try to take a straight edge to the wheel where it mounts and put a feeler gauge under to see if its worn or anything but flat too. Imma take the caliper off too and inspect it. Its just really weird and I barely found anything on the subject for DSMs. Does anyone know the clearance between the caliper and the wheel? I'd like to check that too.

I would also recommend checking the wheel bearings - are they making noise ? check for excess play on the ball joints, tie rods as well. Something is definitely off!

Good luck!

Might be best to take it to a shop where they can put it on a rack and align the vehicle.

Hey guys, it's been a bad week with flooding and all but I finally got around to the Talon. Still haven't figured it out. I checked it all and it seems to be good. We took the caliper off and put some grease on it and the noise went away for a little and came back. It's only there when I'm going straight or making a left turn. Nothings touching anything anymore as far as I can tell. When we jacked it up and turned the wheel back and forth there was no noise so it's gotta be something spinning but nothing looks bad or out of place. I did however come across loose lugs when I took the caliper off. They loosened while driving which I can only imagine as extremely dangerous.
