Hey Tuners, here my story.
I’m in the process of building a 91 4G63T bolt that I pulled from my GSX before I sold it. Swapping the 6bolt into my 95 GSX, that still drives, 7bolt and DSM link V3 lite. The motor is at the machine shop as of now getting align hone with the Kiggly main bearing girdle and ARP main studs installed. Cory the machinist said he can make me a torque plate of 2” aluminum for correct boring, which is awesome because I didn’t want to pay for one. I gave him a head from a 6bolt that I had laying around for him to use as a template, btw he is keeping the plate for future use, this place is called “Ron’s” in Sterling Illinois, heard great things about his work, even though its mostly V8’s.
From what I’ve researched from this forum and watching all of Jafromobile videos on youtube.com. I’m waiting to see what work is in need for the pistons that I choose. In the time being, I’m in a pickle on what head to use. Choices are between the 6Bolt head that came off the 91 GSX block using the Cam sensor or to use the 7bolt head and bore to fit the 12mm ARP studs using the Kiggly Crank Position Sensor bracket to be located at the balance belt area of the front cover.?

It all depends what you want to use the car for.

What turbo are you using?
If you are going for 500 hp your probably going to be better of with the 1g head the ports are bigger
I would just use a 1g CAS instead of the 2g set up with cam and crank it really simplifies things and your able to adjust base timing with it..

The 2g head flows better but the ports are much smaller so for smaller turbos they are better

I agree with autocrossn, The six bolts are better for big power.
That has to do with the bottom end though not the head. Also there are 1g's that are 7 bolts after June I believe of 1992. I'd go with the 91 head though because of the ease compared to trying to put the 7bolt head on. You saw what Jafro had to do to get it to work. Also you will not notice a huge difference between the two. Keep in mind a 2G head will not correctly fit a 1g Intake manifold because of the difference in port size.

Thanks for the fast replies,
The set up I have right now on the walked 7bolt 95 GSX,
Evo3 Big 16g
Punishment Racing Front Mount kit
Punishment Racing Recirculated O2 housing with Tial Wastgate
ECM link
No egr. No canister, wally 255
1000cc PTE's
I plan on using allot of the parts from the 7bolt, like the trans.

I ported the 2g intake mani to the install the 1g TB witch doesnt matter, because now I believe im going with the 6bolt head from my 91 GSX auto I also plan on doing all the head work myself, valves, springs, cams, witch I have yet to decide on what to go with. This motor will be going in the 95 GSX 5 speed as a weekend driver/strip every now and then 30 psi kinda car. I have learnd so much from my years as a Ford tech. I'm feeling confident in this build. Just bought myself some newARP head studs today :)

Awesome. Keep a detailed build thread if you can. We love seeing this stuff

I dont know if 1g dsm kev was talking about the blocks.. like I said the port size is a huge difference the 2g ports are smaller so there going to flow better small turbo like a 16g thats perfect....
But if your going for 500+ with like an hx40 or something like that the bigger ports on a 1g head will help you.

Sure, velocity (2g) vs flow (1g)

Appreciate you choosing Kiggly parts for your build. Hope it all comes together for you. Feel free to give us a call to discuss some stuff like the head choice and other parts of the build.

What ever you do, go for king racing bearings, their tolerances are tighter, and forge the bottom end if you can so you dont have to think about will getting under throttle.

Thanks everyone for the great replies!
I just got word that in need to buy .020 over pistons for the block, I'm wanting to go with Wiesco HD forged with high silicone so i wont get piston slap on start up.
I'm wanting to also get ones with 22mm pins, would I just buy ones for a 2g?
Then buy rods for a 6bolt that has the 22mm pin right?
will the 2g pistons hit the oil squirters?
I aslo need to get main and rod bearings STD, should i go with the +.001 oil clearance ACL race bearings or just STD size?
I have deleted the balance shafts, done the oil galley mod. and plain on doing the oil mod to the head.
Thanks in advance.
BTW I'm at work so I'm trying to make it fast typing, sorry for grammar if any is poor.

I was thinking of using 2g pistons in my 6 bolt and decided not to, but I was reading that some have used evo oil squirters to clear the pistons if you go that way. I went with HD H-beam Manley rods that already have the 22mm wrist pin and Manley pistons on a Eagle crank. Haven't started it yet but it will very soon.
