My fuel pump died yesterday and I put a new one in today. It isn't coming on though. I can't hear it humming and the car wont start still. I checked the pump to make sure I had everything put back together correctly and it all checks out.

Check the wires on the sender itself grounds and the power wires, I had a bad ground no start, fixed the ground boom pump works with link to turn off and on. Is it rewired check all the connectors at the relay and the fuse near the battery if you have it rewired, also check the fuel pump relay.

You need to do some trouble shooting.

  • Have you checked any fuses for the fuel pump?
  • Have you verified if you are getting power to the fuel pump? Check for power before the connected and after the connector.
  • Have you completed a rewire? If not, try powering the pump from the battery.
  • Another cupltrit could be the MPI relay. Here is a helpful thread for this:

So I have a few hours tomorrow morning so I just want to know what I should check. The car is a 97 GST.

Where should I start? Check voltage at the pump? Or should I check the relay, which is under stereo on passenger side, right? I have not done a rewiring on the car. Should I check the pump starter relay thing behind the battery? Thanks for all the help as always guys. I appreciate it.

Tell us the whole story. How did you come tothe conclusion fuel pump died? .

I was driving and the car completely died. I pulled over and checked the battery. Then I tried to start the car and it cranked and died. I had my little brother come to me and I pulled off my fuel line that runs to the engine and it was bone dry. Had brother turn the car over and no gasoline came out. Then I lifted up my backseat and put my ear to where the fuel pump assembly is and it made no noise. I poured starter fluid in my cylinders and the car started no problem.

The car also has 175000km (roughly 110000 miles) and still had the original pump so I figured age had taken its toll.

I would've verified voltage first. Jump the relay with the check connector and then go chase the problem. I'd start with fuses.

They click. Put a screwdriver up against it or a stethoscope and put it to your esr. Injectors have a resistor pack on the firewsll. Make sure its not damaged. Yes checkmecu for obvious physical damage. Burnt traces, leaking caps etc.

im no DSM Wiseman, but with 110,000 miles have you replaced the in line fuel filter at all? I know the rails don't have a bleeder valve but its worth just pulling off the line at the end to see if any fuel at all is making its way to the rail.
