I cannot seem to find any real clear information on this, nor any photos, so perhaps the wonderful world of tuners could help me out here, since I am completely new to the world of larger turbos.

The Green XL I have doesn't clear the main water pipe, or the smaller line for the oil cooler. The car is on the FP manifold, as well. We did manage to dent the main pipe a tad, and got the compressor housing to clear. But now, still dealing with the oil cooler line. We are contemplating making one from a new piece of pipe. I really don't want to delete the oil cooler, as I have seen that as an option in some searches. Has anyone else run into this issue?

Also, for the turbo itself, I am using mitsu lines. However, I noticed that the 16g pulled from the car has lines from the T25 style, as when I went to order new ones, ordered them for a 1g (aka mitsu turbo style) and they are different. I forgot what i ordered so many years ago! So my question is, what option works better? I suppose I can let all these parts come in and play around with them to get the best fitment. So kinda just looking for suggestions as to what others have done and what seems to work best overall. I seem to be confusing myself, now...

Thanks!

You could use a spacer between the manifold and head. I needed one for my 10cm housing on my hrc16g setup. I actually have a extra one somewhere you could have. It's also means u need longer studs and stuff. There's also a spacer you can use between the turbo and manifold, pushing the turbo alittle lower. I think I have a extra one of these too LOL Is there anyway to clock the turbo alittle to make fit?

Shave the compressor cover Hahn-style. I've done it to the 18G I'll be using next on my daily driver. You'll trim the cover in two places- one to clear the pipe, the other to clear the bolt. Be careful not to go too far or you'll break through. You'll then use the T25's coolant lines to line up with your car's water outlets as 16G-style turbos were never intended for use on 2G's so there are direct-fit coolant lines for these turbos- if you buy 16G coolant lines, you get 1G lines which don't fit a 2G.

In the photo, it's visible slightly in the lower left-hand corner. The "dot" on the cover is centered between the two clearance grinds I made. If I'm feeling energetic, I'll post some pics later of the turbo mounted to an engine and show how clearance is improved. Hahn does this by default to all their DSM "Super 20G"s. I lined an old Hahn 20G cover up to this one while the turbo was still being built and made the grinds to prevent clearance issues down the road....since you won't have this option, you'd have to mount the turbo, mark the cover with a Sharpie, and make the grinds as you see fit.

Another option is to just dent the water pipe so the cover clears then block off the coolant source at the block, and not run water to the turbo.

Thank you both for the responses! It seems that some people have had luck with it fitting, others not. I do believe the ones without clearance issues run a different manifold.

I am currently still waiting on parts, so got time to think about which way to go with it. Again, thanks!

Yeah the 2g stuff doesnt quite fit. Since I was using a 1g head on a 4g64 I just went with the 1g thermostat housing and water pipe (2g one didnt fit right) and a 16g fit right on no problem, this was also to plan ahead for an FP Green in the future as well.
