Hey guys,

So I had a check engine light for "insufficient coolant temp at closed looped operations". I tried replacing my thermostat, but that didn't help (probably needed it soon anyways). So I did a quick google for the CEL code and people said to change the CTS. Well, I did that and now my car is idling higher than usual. It also kinda hesitates when I start it.

Any ideas?

I have a funnel that sits on the radiator cap location. Basically you put the funnel on it and run the car like that (with no cap) until the radiator fan cycles on and off. I let the fans cycle twice. Could take 45min or more.

When i did mine i just opened cap, and let car run until all the bubbles stopped coming up. Piece of cake. Make sure to check for things you may have unplugged or pulled on on when changing that sensor. I recall i unplugged my o2 sensor to get the wires out of the way. And a couple other things as well.

That's what I was thinking. I don't think I did it right. What's the proper way?
Take the radiator cap off, get the car up to operating temps, turn your heat on full blast, and burp the air out by squeezing the lower and upper radiator hoses while its idling (especially the lower hose). Keep topping it off with coolant until no more bubbles come up to the surface...

When I unplug the sensor, my car runs great. The fans come on and my car actually stays cool. But I can't start it from a cold start. Did I just get a bad sensor? Or what the heck is going on?

Bought it new from advance auto parts. The connector was different from the one in my car, so I had to wire in the correct connector. I know that sounds strange, but wherever I looked, I got the same part number for the sensor. I couldn't find one with the same connector as my original one. But now the original connector is broke.

That's a big red flag. It should have had the same connector, even with a auto parts store brand.

Even when I tried to order a new connector, none of the options matched my original one. Here's what they all look like...

Dropping my engine in another shell this week though, so hopefully that wiring harness has the OEM connector and then I'll just go buy the correct sensor.
