Is the 16g turbo that's in the 95 Mitsubishi eclipse a Garrett t25. My turbo is currently in need of a rebuild and I was told by the company that sells the rebuild kit that's what it is but I figured better safe then sorry before I send the money. And while I'm at hit where is a good place to get a manual boost control and boost gauge at.

I would recommend that you send the turbo out for a rebuild as opposed to just buying a rebuild kit. There are even freelancers on this site that offer this service. You need to do a little more research on your end as to what turbo you have. Check out the vfaq for a guide to install a 16/14b turbo on a 2g. At this time, you may consider the swap if you do indeed have a t-25. The other benefit of this guide is that it is loaded with pics of what the turbos look like along with detailed install directions.

NXS. I love their manual boost controller with a ceramic ball bearing. Definitely recomend them. Just scroll down.

I would have someone else do it or even buy a new one but I don't have the money available, I have 2 kids and have to do this myself. I have rebuilt a turbo before and do know it is a pain in the ass to say the least but i have to do what I can with what I have available. Thank you very much though for your insight.

You can get a $40 manual boost gauge on Amazon, you probably don't need a MBC if there's no money for supporting mods. Consider the boost control solenoid restrictor removal instead. See 2g 4g63 upgrade path (sorry I don't know how to hyperlink). Also change your blow off valve to a used 1g or Evo 8/9 metal one. Then if you fix any boost leaks you'll be stoked at what your car will do until you have a little more scratch for upgrades.

If it's a 2G with the factory turbo, you have a TB2566 (known collectively as a T25).

Normally with these units...by the time you reach the point that you know you need a rebuild, the turbo is junk. Should probably let a professional inspect it at the very least.

Thanks for the info on the manual boost gauge. And the rebuild kit i bought has all internals included, the parts I bought are an upgrade compared to the stock parts that are built for this housing so unless the housing is warped and damaged then I should be able to rebuild it. the reason I'm saying it needs a rebuild is because one of the seals between the oil and the turbine has to have gone bad because when I was under the hood checking spark plugs, timing, gaskets and motor mounts, I started the car stepped out and turned the throttle by hand. As the rpms reached high enough to spool the turbine black smoke came out of the turbo itself. not only will I be repairing the turbo but also all of the connections and gaskets from the turbo to the ic and intake. I am also getting the boost controller because with the upgraded turbo parts I dont want to add extra boost without getting the proper mods and maintenance done this way i can control and monitor the boost without worry. I will still do the metal blow off valve conversion. After all of this is done then I will start buying the parts I need to run some serious boost and then when I am ready I will do all of the work at once.

That's fine-n-dandy assuming the turbo is rebuildable. Like I said, usually by the time a T25 owner notices a problem the turbo's junk...either the shaft flops around freely, or there's in/out play to the point that the wheels have rubbed the housings, the turbine sealing ring groove is gone/worn away, and the bearing housing is damaged to the point that the best parts kit in the world won't fix it.

Best of luck to you.
