Ok, so I'm not new to DSMs, big turbo cars nor drag racing..... With that being said, I'm having trouble building boost at the line and my 60' sucks on this setup. My profile is updated and all mods on there. I'll attach a log of the last pass I made at test and tune. 7.99@94 1.96 60' in the 1/8mi. I've tried the 2 step at 5500 and 5750 and haven't built more than 6.5-9psi at the line. I've messed with anti-lag before i put the Hoosiers on and just blew the tires off each time. I'm willing to try anti-lag again with the Hoosiers so if anyone is using it with good results can you please post your anti-lag settings?

So I usually attempt to do a burn out but the tires usually stick so I pull up to the line and stage first. I always shallow stage. When the other car lights his first bulb up I get on the 2 step and slip off the clutch at when the 3 yellows light up (pro tree). Again, best 60' I've gotten on this setup is 1.96. The car doesn't spin much, just a little chirp. It really just bogs off the line then when the turbo spools it takes off like a freight train.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm tired of losing to Neons with 200 less HP.

Are you not using nlts? We have very similar builds but I'm a gst. I'm guessing you are tuning yourself? You know how much power you are making?

What clutch do you have? Is this an AWD? I'd get your 2 step up to about 6500. I think my HE351 probably works very similar to your black, and it works good at 6000-6500, usually about 0* advance on the 2 step.

It's AWD, ACT 2600 PP with custom disk built locally, not NLTS because the trans is on its way out and don't want to finish it off yet, I'm gonna raise the 2step to 6k Friday night, no welded center diff, previous owner said trans was rebuilt but I'm guessing stock rebuild, my guess is HP is around 570-600HP. I know this trans won't last long at this HP. Just trying to go as fast as I can before it breaks and I go auto.

Well, just turned the 2step up to 6k and only built 3.8psi. I used to build 9psi at 5750 so something must be wrong somewhere. Guess I'll start with ANOTHER BLT. Last one I did, all 4 barb fittings were leaking out of the SMIM. If they're leaking again I may go back to stock IM and see what happens.

It's an external with 18psi worth of springs in it. I suppose I could take it off and check it out. It wouldn't take long. I just had it off recently putting the bigger springs in it though.

Always good to review but jaf always gives great tips and reminders:

Also sounds like your BOV may be a little tight I think I'm hearing surge when you shift and when it bogged off the line.

2-step limit plays a pretty large part. Mine is usually around 6750. No need to shallow stage, unless you are using the e-brake or a staging brake. No need to use anti-lag either, that stuff is for the birds. I've cut low 1.5X's on 2-step without preloading at all.

That was on a BEP .70 T3 housed HX-40 Pro. Maybe building a few pounds, I never really looked. The car would just hook on the M&H's, tiny little spin and go. I never bothered to do a burnout...car probably wasn't making more than 600.

I'd expect on the staging brake I could leave even harder, especially now that the car is hundreds of pounds lighter and I have a set of M&H full-slicks for it.

Maybe I just need a driver mod LOL!
Try this. Have the 2-step set at 6K and just slip the clutch a little longer to load the turbo to around 15psi then let out the clutch. That should help significantly. You are not making enough torque to move the car off the line at low RPM so you need to load the turbo and come off the clutch later. It should spool fairly quickly at that RPM so let the clutch out just enough to keep it around 6K until your speed matches engine speed at maybe around 5K then engage the clutch fully. Granted this will wear the clutch faster but you will no longer bog off the line and it will be easier on the transmission and tcase and rear end because you are not shocking the driveline but loading it progressively. This will all happen very quickly so it will take a few runs of practice to get it down.

And a soon to be 6870.

I always had this bog problem too. I only had my 2 step max to 5750, when i get the 6466 on I'm gonna try it at 6200

On a cold day, maybe 6200. Hot day and sticky tires - 7000. I'm going to stick with the 6466 for a while, never even got a real pass in with it. With the car in its current trim, should go basement 9's on a clean pass.

My 60's aren't much better, but my car has a similar FP Black and manual trans setup. My best results come with the launch rpm set at 6500 and making sure I get on the gas early . It's taken a lot of practice to finally start improving my 60's on the new setup; finally got down from the the high 1.9 range into the 1.7s. I am running low profile 235/40/18 street tires so that also makes it a little trickier. My best 60' ever was a 1.6; that's probably as good as it will get on my wheel and tire setup.
