Is anyone running a Mishimoto power steering reservoir? If you screw off the top it's a little tiny pinhole on top the tank. At idle the power steering fluid is trying escape from this hole. Under a turning load it's worse. I know it's best to go OEM which I will most likely do. But since I ordered this brand new, I'm just seeing if anyone else were using this tank and if you had the same issue.

Is the reservoir mounted in a position of "altitude" at least as high as the OEM reservoir?

If too low or lower than OEM it may overflow

Does it eventually stop overflowing while running? And if yes...does it still sound smooth at that point?

It's in its stock location, no it doesn't have a dipstick.

When I take off the cap, the tank is only about 1/4 full. I'm not sure what it's like once pressure builds with the lid on.

Keep the cap off and start it up. See if it continues to come out of the reservoir or if you are cavitating the fluid. Does the P/S sound fine going from lock to lock? No whining?

It's not making any noticeable noises that are out of the ordinary. From lock to lock steering is tuff though.

I'm starting to think it's a design issue.
I'll play around with it a little more 2marrow and try to get a video that might help a bit more.

Still have your OEM reservoir, put it back in and see if the issue is gone. As long as your aren't overfilling the Mishimoto reservoir than you may be correct. Reservoirs are pretty generic over all, in and out flow and sometimes there is a filter but not always. Not really a whole lot to mess up.

ALSO make sure you have worked out ALL of the air in the system and that all clamps are tight.

Ok I decided to put the belt back on and give this another go.

Although it is mounted in its stock location it does sit a bit lower than stock. I adjusted the height by raising about 3/4" which in turn also helped with the bends on the hoses. Also I drained the ps fluid out that was in the reservoir. Didn't re add any. Ran it for a while and worked the steering wheel from lock to lock. For the most part the the leakage has stopped but power steering is still gone. I will replace the pump with a new one instead of a junkyard pump. Then hopefully I can have a working pump and a unleaky reservoir working at the same time.

Was the pump whining at all while working it back and forth? Certainly could have a bad pump but would be a bit strange if it was working properly before changing out this reservoir....

wasn't doing any "whining" initially. I already decided on getting a new pump because this one was in an unknown condition. now the whining has started. Not even while turning but while at idle.
