ok guys so I'm about to get 6k for a retro disability payment and in all the years I have owned a DSM I have always had trans issues. So I am thinking of Mabey getting like a TRE stage 2 rebuild just wanted some input from everyone I'm looking for the best bang for my buck but still have s good strong trans double syncros are a must but some input would be great guys like should I go through TRE....ect.....

First off, fix your clutch issue. If you've had transmission issues for years, then there's the problem.
Second, any of the builders here can give a damned good rebuild. It's only synchos and bearings, and clearances. You could do it yourself for half.

I might seem brash, but,......do a search on all the transmission problems, and 90% are clutch related issues. Granted, 1 and 2 And 3 are always the problem. Always a pop, a grind, a block....if you go spend big $$$ at a transmission shop, do yourself a favor and fix your clutch issue BEFORE the rebuild. If you wait till after, it's usually too late.

hotrodssnova....I understand what you are saying....and in the previous post I forgot to mention what kind of trans issues I always had in the beginning it was always clutch issues and I had broke and shattered numerous clutches into pieces, but my trans issues were always some type of grind going into 2nd or 3rd pretty much the typical DSM grind and I had pop out issues too. As far as the clutch I'm gonna be running my ACT 2600 with a 4 puck or 6 puck unsprung disk, and also my ACT street lite flywheel. I can't exactly remember wether it's a 4 puck or 6 puck it's been in my old car witch is now a parts car for the past 3 years sitting in a field at my work and I need to get it ripped out, so I can't really remember actually what disk is in it but once I went to that clutch I never had issues besides the typical grinds witch I am tired of and that's why I'm thinking of getting a rebuild. I kno I am probably capable of doing it myself as I'm very automotivly inclined and have all the necessary tools. I would just rather someone do it who has done it numerous times and that has the experience and knows what they are doing and looking for. Was just really curious what most of you guys do as far as who you have do your rebuilds and what are the most popular upgrades everyone gets done. I was kind of leaning towards the TRE stage 2 rebuild but I was also looking at the jacks transmission rebuilds to as they are a little bit cheaper and you can get the 4 Spider Ctr. diff for as much as just the TRE stage 2 rebuild cost, but as far as the clutch guys I will be running my ACT 2600 with a 4 or 6 puck unsprung disk and ACT street lite flywheel, with a bran new master and slave cyl. Also the full SS clutch line and extended slave rod.

Ok guys I've been doing a little research but what it's coming down to is jacks or TRE I have about 1600 to spend and Mabey 2k at the top of the mark so jacks or TRE what do you guys think???

I don't have an a personal experience with TRE, but I can speak (and very highly), of the quality of Jacks. Even there entry level ($1,099), no frills, trans rebuild is well worth every penny. Jack answers all your questions in simple terms. No flashy sales talk, to big words trying to make you feel like your being sold gold for the price of horsesh!t.. Do yourself (and your trans) a favor and take a few minutes to email Jack

jacks ftw, and mostly because he has fantastic customer service. any one of these shops can build a great tranny

Tre or jacks jacks would be faster jon is tied up most times, i got my gears shot peened and a great build for a good price, repeat customer and told him my goals, and local so it was a no brainer.

Ok thanks a lot guys and I think I was leaning more towards jacks also from what everyone keeps telling me he has great customer service and he does a hell of a job on a M/T trans I'm gonna go ahead and shoot him an e-mail thanks a lot for the input guys
