I'm stuck in a tight spot. Long story short, a deal fell through for the 3065 so I bought a new ported fp black with the 300$ punishment racing 02 dump for 1000$ shipped. A day later the deal for the 3065 comes back for the same price, 1000$. It comes with the dump tube, tial external wastegate, and the oil restrictor. It does have miles on that setup but normal minimal shaft play for a ball bearing turbo. Which should I choose?? I want at least 400hp and in the future go for 500 and maybe 600hp. I also want a great daily driven car

Black is going to be pretty laggy on a 2.0 for DD use. Can't speak for the 3065. Your goals do seem a bit unrealistic based on the turbos you're looking at. A fun DD at 400awhp can be accomplished by something much smaller than a black and cheaper than the 3065 (16g, 20g, Green). If down the road you do want that 500-600awhp and still want a fun DD you'd be looking toward either a 2.3 or T/S setup to maintain the spool characteristics of what I consider a fun DD turbo. Other things to consider are fuel (e85 or just pump/race gas?), budget (a stock motor will only take so much plus you'll need a solid list of supporting mods to make 600awhp a reliable DD), and goals (why do you want a 600awhp DD?). Hopefully this helps and gives you something to think about. I was in your shoes not too long ago.

I'm running an FP Black on a built 10:1 2.0 with a ported head, EVO 8 springs and HKS 272s. I have a SMIM, ported 1G TB the FP race mani with tial MVS. Car is on pump e85 (73% ethanol right now). I love the turbo. Spool isn't that bad. Makes 20psi by 4400 rpms and 29psi by 5k. Would get you your 400 on pump and still leave you room for +530HP in the future. My only complaint with the turbo is that I'm no where near the advertised 66lb/min. As far as the DBB 3065, you can't go wrong with that either. That's a fantastic turbo that will make the same power as the Black probably but spool better and last longer. The only issue with that one is the FP30 style turbine housing. you'll probably need a custom vband exhaust or 90* to mate up with the normal 2 bolt DPs. I like both turbos but if they were the same price I'd get the 3065.

Your car is pretty built then. Forgot to mention the 3065 is already ready to mate up with the 2 bolt downpipe. The only thing that's hard to choose is the condition. The black is brand new while the 3065 has a few miles but minimal shaft play. I guess that and the spool difference is the deciding factor.

29psi by 5k on thr black? Hx40 spools quicker than that in the .55 and flows more. I made almost 400whp at 22psi on my hx40 .55 3 years ago at english racing. Spooled that 22psi by low to mid 4000's and theb 30 psi by 4800. With no dyno time. That black seems like a big fat loose. So with that said, the 3065 is my vote, out of your choices. I wanna know what was up with the black on the evos and making numerous 700whp cars.

The FP3065 is an absolutely amazing turbo. I ran my 3065 for well over 5 years, thousands of street miles and hundreds of 1/4 passes. It made nearly 600hp at 34psi or so and was enough to power me to a 9.93@136 in the 1/4. Very good spool and hit like a freight train. When I was 5-speed it would make positive pressure at about 2800-2900rpm and hit my boost setting of 34psi by 4000-4200rpm. I loved it.

Wow. I think you may have convinced me to run this turbo on my 2.4LR instead of an HTA Green. If they spool that great, I am sold.
