I have a 1992 dsm with a 4g63 non turbo engine. If I swap it with a 4g63 turbo cyclone engine will I pass the smog test in California? and will I need to swap my non turbo ecu to a turbo ecu or just modify my non turbo ecu?

You won't pass song in California but my car is not street legal and I live in California. My way around it was getting a smog when my car was stock and were my uncle live he doesn't do smog so I just have it registerd there and when I need plates I just pay for them online. Never need smog again. There's certain places like fort Bragg, Ca that don't need smog

I need that.. Lol my account is on probation since I joined yesterday and trying to unlock it LOL

I believe you can pass smog, but you will have to take your car to a Smog Referee and explain that you swapped the non-turbo with a turbo. Just make sure all emissions items are still on the engine and functioning properly (no EGR engine codes). It is probable easier to just move to one of these counties that don't require smog :). You can enter your zip code to see if it is exempt.

Just register it where there's no smog testing required.

That's what I did for my AZ emissions.

Also saved some $$ on the insurance since I picked a zip code with less claims. :thumb:

You'll have to do a little research but I have heard since the turbo engine was an option that as long as the engine is swapped with all required smog equipment and the engine is from (the same year?) or newer than it can be smog legal. Im not sure if that would mean that you need the CA specific smog stuff or not.
