I've done a lot of things, but taking off my first generation intake manifold was a nightmare. Any one else have some struggle stories or advice. I honestly can't see myself putting that horrible intake back on, just to take it off in the future.
 
It really is a nightmare. Keep the bracket on the intake manifold off and just plumb the vacuum lines together that you need. Grab a good set of ratcheting wrenches and get it from under the car. I found putting it back to be easier than taking it off.
 
I only had a non ratchet wrench and the engine is in the car. I literally layed down on the passenger fender/strut tower and had to shove my arm in there for the last bolt using my index finger as a guide to the bolt because it was as far as I could reach.

I tried. There was no way to those bolts from under mine. Maybe if I had a folding ratchet ended wrench. Then yeah, but all my tools are old fashioned. No power. Only best things I have are socket ratchets....which don't f***ing fit.
 
I suggest moving a lot of stuff out of the way example battery shifter cables, cruise if you have it etc. Make the fire wall side as clutter free as possible and then it'll get way easier, That's just what I found tho, you'll still have to switch sides to get at the bolts easier tho.

Just get some cheap ratchet wrenches. Takes me like 30 minutes with non-ratchet wrenches and I don't have to drop the damn t-case or exhaust. ROFL

I remember you stating that your goal hp was around 300whp a while back, have your goals changed?

Nope, didn't think I'd be removing my intake manifold. Such a horrible experience involving so many cuts, but.....just hopefully never again will I mess with a stock manifold. I wonder how the dealership put those on. Any way to never do this again, a better intake manifold Is needed.

Ive had an intake manifold off before. I dont remember any big deal.

Maybe I just did it the worst way possible. It was just such a struggle I'm selling things for a new manifold and with what you said I'll just get the 215.00 manifold. Selling a S90 throttle body for evo 1-3, and I also have awd trans components.
