This past weekend I've been trying to track down boost leaks after boost leaks. Looks like you fix one major one and another one pops up. The last big one I found was coming from my turbonetics compressor housing. I was pushing roughly 21-22 psi and that thing was leaking bad. Even at about 10 psi it was leaking already.
So I did some searching on here and it seems it's been seen and addressed by other members before. I took my turbo setup off to apply RTV to the compressor housing to stop the leak. As i took the bolts off the back of the housing and back plate i started seeing water dripping from the housing. Once I got it completely off there was traces of water everywhere. I wiped everything down and let it sit for a while to let things dry up before finishing what I started to do.
My turbo is only oil cooled. It's not my DD. It sits more than it gets driven and is started periodically. Am I looking at bad seals? Possibly needing a rebuild? I've had this turbo for about 8 years on the car now. This turbo is not as responsive as I'm lead to believe but that's another thread with more time with ECMLINK. A big part of me is also looking for an excuse to get a NEW-er turbo setup.
