Hey guys!! I just bought a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gs-t Spyder from my cousin who had owned more than ten years. I'm the third owner of this car. The first owner was my cousin uncle who sold it to him. He also own another GSX. Now my cousin had pass it on to me. I remember this car when I was a little kid. It was a beautiful car. I always wanted one ever since especially when the very first Fast and Furious came out with the green 2g Eclipse that Paul Walker had driven in the very first scene. My cousin didn't really want to sell it, but he had a wife and three kids. So he's planning to get a truck for his family and ready to move on. He also almost sold it to another guy who had offer him at a higher price. But I offer my cousin $5000 since we're related and he knows it was my dream car. I didn't want it to be gone to another person who you don't know what they're going to do with the car and I know most people don't keep them in very well condition these days. Especially it's a clean 99 spyder that I grow up looking at it ever since I was a kid. Overall, I've been begging him about it lately. So, I went and take a look at it. Starts right up! But it's been sitting for while. Just need a wash. No check engine light or anything. Only 98,000 orignal miles. All clean, no rust. Black leather interior no rips, OEM 99 white face gauge, OEM mud flaps, chrome Gs-t wheels. Just need a tune. Only boosting 5psi at the moment. Get full boost at 3500-4000rpm. Also, I'm pretty surprise that the car isn't too loud. But it does back fire a little once you let go of gas while in the highway. So that day when I went and take a look at it, I finally took it. He gave me with all of the OEM and aftermarket parts. I'm just going to leave the exterior of the car as it is. Stock, OEM Gs-t chrome wheels, maybe a little bit of drop in the future. Like 1'5inch lowered only to cover the big gap. No more than that for the street or my mud flaps will be gone within a few miles. Also less body roll and more better handling. I loved the stock OEM looks and make people think that my car is stock until the turbo whistle in front of them. And hopefully with my set up, it will be around 300-350hp to the wheels. I'm not looking towards to big hp queen numbers. I don't need that much hp for the street. 300-350 would be just fun and perfect for me. I'm the type of person who just want comfortable, smooth ride and a fun street car. Also, pick up ladies with the top off. Right now it has a Pte 50 trim turbo, Greddy 24v big front mount intercooler, Greddy Type-S BOV, 650cc injectors, Walbro 255 fuel pump, Tial 32mm wastegate, Dejon intake pipe with K&N universal intake filter, big Ultra slim cooling fan, 2'5 Megan downpipe with 3inch HKS turbo back, ACT 2600 clutch, manual boost controller, DSMLink v2.5, Greddy turbo timer, Ultra lite boost gauge, Ultra lite wideband air ratio gauge and Ultra manifold temperature gauge. There could be something I'm missing. Anyways, the first day I got it, I wash it and wax it. Looked very nice! So on, I just had to go find a place to photo shoot with my car. After a few weeks, I checked if there's any boost leak. I found out there's a boost leak between the intercooler pipe coopers. Noticed that it wasn't tight enough cause it to boost leak. So on, I finally fix it. Now boosting 17psi and pulls very hard. I was kind of scare so I turn it back down to 8psi with the manual boost controller. I didn't want to risk it since it's not tune. I barely hit boost anyways. After I fix the boost leak, I also check timing belt, gave it a new oil change, sea foam, new brakes, replaced NGK BRP7ES spark plugs and replaced the exhaust gasket. It run very smooth after all. Now I'm just planning to take out the head and clean it out, replace head gasket, install ARP head studs, new thick NGK spark plug wires, fuel lab adjustable fuel pressure regulator, new axles and maybe coilovers or lowering spring and struts after I take it to prom. After that, I'll get it tune depending on the break in. Hopefully it will be around 300-350hp to the wheels on pump gas. I might hit at the track this year at Brainerd, MN. Hopefully it will hit around 13s with street tires and full interior just to see the full potential from it even though I mostly run on highway pulls and cruise only. I'm planning to get it tune by DB Performance from Minnesota by a great tuner Shane and hopefully around June or July depending on the build and break in. I'm just going to leave it FWD. I'll probably get another Evo or a AWD 1g and build it for drag later on. But I'll just stick with my Gs-t spyder for now. Don't think I'll ever sell it. Ouuu and don't worry! I'm pretty sure I'll get another car for a daily soon. I don't drive my Gs-t spyder to school everyday or buy groceries. I only take it out once in a while on weekends with a nice beautiful weather. And yes! I am from Minnesota. I live in Minneapolis. My facebook is Kaj Siab Xiong. Hopefully some of you guys know me. Let me know if there's any meets around! I'll definitely love to come and meet up with some DSM members! I'll keep up posting on this post. Thanks for reading!
