I recently obtained a lexus sc300 body everything except engine and transmission. I also have a 92 eagle talon tsi that been sitting due to lost title and keys and a few other body problems but engine has work into it from previous owner.if anyone has any feedback let me know was thinking of putting 4g63 in Lexus,?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and figure it's a 2.0L you have, and not a 2.1/2.2/2.3)..

Assuming you have a pre-2000 SC300, you're looking at about 3700lbs with driver. That's going to be slow off the line any way you look at it. Good luck either way, though.

I think it would be kewl withe a good trans, non-auto. A few simple bolt on could make that a great combo, or get it running on the 2.0 and swap a built 2.4 engine in.

I say do it, uve already got most of the major components. Build it to be different if u got the scratch.

same
The Q is, can it fit vertically, horizontally (less of an issue), and can you put the motor mounts in the bay in a logical and safe spot with enough structural reinforcement?
Same issue I was thinking a friend of mine has a 84 Monte Carlo rwd with a 4g63 swap its on YouTube, but yea am still learning myself. Were would I start,? Would it be able to be rwd

Wiki is saying there a hair lighter 3500/3600 but that's with the existing engine ect, it would be a good bit lighter with the 4g in there around 2g awd weight not to big of a deal.

The curb weight of a 2g GSX is about 300lbs lighter than the SC300. The existing engine does have two more cylinders, but I'm willing to bet that's not going to make up the difference.

Essentially you're going to be running around with one extra fat dude in the back seat, before you add any more.

No, we're not talking about 700lb difference. However, you'll definitely want to increase low end torque any which way you can.
Not saying you shouldn't do it, but you have your work cut out for you.. keep us posted if you find a transmission that works for you.

I would think wiring a 2g ECU and custom fab for the trans would be the hardest part assuming you keep the stock lexus rear end. Only way to find out if it's even possible is to do a mock up.

Ive never heard of that swap ever being done yet. It's probably a good reason for that. IMO I'd just go 2J swap in the Lexus. Even though you might have the 4g63 long block already, it will take far more money, time, and fabrication headaches than just picking up a 2jz-gte swap.

If you do decide to do it, PLEASE post a build thread. Thats something id have to follow. I mean they've swapped em into Mustangs why not a Lexus too.

Yea I just have the two kinda sitting,I got the lexus at my work,I work with my father at 5 j's auto parts in Albuquerque nm. And the yards full of most makes and models I seen the Lexus and seen it had no trans or engine an thought about the 92 tsi i got,I am 18 an this will be my first car/first swap..am not worried much so as the work but the cost...but like I said the yard I work at most cars are ethier getting parted out/sold or crushed,,,, if any other body's recommended I kan check, thanks all you guys though really appreciate it

Unless you've got a lot of time and money and are looking for a really challenging project, don't do it.

Ever driven the 4.0 liter v8 SC400? They're a blast. I'd just find one of those that has been hit in the back and swap the engine over.

Yea am not much of a Lexus fan,am just looking for a good car to swap that 4g63 of mine in,,we got a few cars in the yard I work at,,,we have a 420a eclipse 2g,? Just no trans would this swap work putting the 6bolt 4g an trans in it,?

I've been wanting to do a 4g63 swap into an Audi A4 or VW Passat since they come in awd and the engine sits longways in the bay alreadyand they come with a four cylinder turbo already too.

Why don't you find a proper shell to put the 4g in and learn from there if you can't use the one you have right now for the reasons above.. though lost keys means you take the VIN to a Dodge dealership and have them cut you a new key, and lost title probably just means a trip to the DMV? If the shell is rotten, that's another case.

Don't take this the wrong way but it sounds like you're just throwing engines and bodies at the group and seeing what the easiest is without knowing how to do tackle any of them or have any experience. LOTS of fabrication in every scenario you've mentioned, and swaps of this nature should not be attempted without knowing what to do in the general sense, and having experience with the tools required to do it. Otherwise, you end up with an engine that falls out when torquing over and a 1.5 ton projectile.
