Resolved Oil Cooler lines leaking -

My lines to the oil cooler are leaking at the oil filter housing. What do I need to fix this? Is it just o-rings? I'm hoping to find out before I take the lines off to fix it. Thanks!
 
Leaking at the fittings connecting to the OFH? Each banjo bolt uses two "special" washers that are copper on the outside diameter and some type of gasket rubber on the inside diameter to seal against the fitting and against the housing. They are part number MB033054.
 
Thsts right Erik. I have a set and they have rubber on the inside area. Got mine from STM. See if you can tighten the banjo bolts on the OFH. :thumb:
 
I've never seen any this size at the auto parts store; the largest I've seen is an M14 and this will be an M16.

A quick check at OReilly's site shows a cross-over to MasterPro part number A63109. It checks out to be about the right size on the ID. Also of note is that it appears to be a plain rubber seal. They might work.
 
After looking at it again, it seems it's leaking after the connector, where the hose meets the hard lines, so it might be the hoses themselves. The connectors look ok, so I think it's not the seals.

Is there a hose replacement kit? I can't tell how they connect to the hard lines. I attached a pic and circles where it's leaking.

The feed line, the line more towards the front of the car on the housing, is part number MB033663.
The return is part number MB033664.

These connect to the hard lines that attach to the housing at the pipe joints just to left of the area you've circled in the picture. The other option is to look at an aftermarket solution or make your own lines.
 
I decided to go AN fittings and stainless steel hose. I got 4 of these adapters:

And I'm keeping the oil cooler in the stock location. Should I get 2 straight fittings for the housing and 2 90 degree fittings for the cooler? Or should I go all 90 degree fittings?
 
Erik, the STM cooler kit that I just got to replace my factory cooler (didn't trust it after I had a bearing failure) had the exact AN fittings you have for the OFH and the cooler. All of my fittings were 90 degree, for both the cooler and the housing just so you know what comes in aftermarket kits. Marty
 
Sorry everything is a little oily, didn't get a chance to clean it yet. Doing it now :thumb: Also those metal clamps are between the barbs on the press fitting and is on there VERY LIGHTLY to avoid cutting the rubber. You do not have to use rubber lines of course. The way I went about this I had to make a bracket for the oil cooler to raise it 2 inches for clearance of the hoses. I used - 6AN fittings.

Be careful how you run the rubber lines and make sure they are not twisted or pinched and not in front of that metal loop where it can get pinched and ruin the line.

Eeeesshh. I cringe looking at how low that feed line is looping around the sheet metal. I, personally, wouldn't advise mounting it like that.

Of course, personally, if I were making my own lines, I'd relocate the cooler. And if I relocated the cooler, I'd want a glass of milk to go with it...

Yea I thought the same when I first made them so I moved it up higher. I could just imagine pinching it and oil squirting everywhere. I just pulled it down so you could see where it ran better.
