After watching some videos I've found a few that sound completely different to what a normal dsm/evo with Apexi, HKS, Greddy, Ebay, Straight-pipe, etc. Dare I say they remind me of my friend's built, straight-piped RSX? They've got that "brap" sound instead of the deep bass/diesel truck sound of the majority of exhaust setups I've seen. Just curious if anyone knows the reason for this difference. Thanks!

Well after talking to Chris (StreetThisEvo) he said it was just a 3in straight pipe on e98..I don't get it. It sounds totally different than that typical tractor/diesel noise straight-piped dsm's have. If any wise men have input I'd really appreciate it as I'd love to replicate that sound.

Here's another one I found with a very similar sound. Any help is still very much appreciated!

I'm not entirely sure as well...but in most cases and my own personal experiences this holds decently true:
6 bolt engine is more aggressive and throatier sounding than the 7 bolt.
The evo 4/5/6/7/8/9 7 bolt sounds much raspier and gives more "brrrap" as you would call it than the dsm/galant/123evo engines.

And for aftermarket manufacturers I'd say the throati"ness" to rasp ratio goes from deepest starting at the top:

Borla
Magnaflow
Thermal
HKS
Apexi
Greddy
Megan
SRS

With my personal favorites being the most popular japanese brands being apexi, hks, and greddy. Hope that helps

Yes somewhat. Thanks! I'm running an old school RSR 3in turboback which is very throaty. So I might just roll with it if there is no way to guarantee that sound I'm after.
