Hey everyone, I'm curious what people's experiences are with keeping air conditioning and using a fmic on their builds. My current talon already had the a/c removed by the previous owner when I got it but with this new build I'm starting, the eclipse has full functioning a/c so that's a luxury I would like to retain for hot summer days. I got to thinking about it and I can only imagine how hot the air is once it passes through the fmic, condenser and gets to the radiator...seems like it has the potential to cause overheating but then again it's not like I will doing any pulls with a/c on so maybe it isn't an issue. I think having and aluminum rad, 170 thermostat, wetter and some ducting would be up to the task but I'm curious what you guys have experienced...

As long as your cooling system is up to snuff. I havent had problems with AC and an FMIC, but i do read about others that do. Ive got an OEM radiator. My coolant temps peak at around 216° summer day with AC running. But if you are having cooling problems, I would still keep the AC and go with an SMIC + meth injection

Most people with cooling problems solve it by sealing the duct work around the FMIC and radiator. Directs all the airflow threw the radiator.

My Talon overheats if I use the A/C in the summer with the FMIC. Of course I live in the hottest place on earth.

I'm fine with no ducting and a fmic. My AC is noticeably less cooler now though, I'm doing ducting soon.

It gets so hot where I am I can't imagine a vehicle without a/c

So how well would it go putting a big pusher fan infront of the radiator/behind the condenser and keep the stock fans? Mishimoto has some incredible CFM flowing "heavy duty" fans they're selling these days that I bet would work great, but would that impede too much surface area of the radiator or would it help with temps and a/c temps as well? Along with some duct work.

What kind of shroud and fan are you running. Get a SPAL big fan and it'll help out, believe me.

I currently run an oem fan on the passenger side of the radiator and a no name slimfan on the other. That setup does great without a/c right now but I wouldn't be all that surprised if it doesn't cut it with a/c. I'll try it with those fans along with ducting, wetter and a 170 thermostat and see if it's upto the job but wouldnt mind investing in a Spal or Fal dual fan setup if needed...they definitely look like a nice pieces to have. Where I live it rarely exceeds low to mid 90s in the summer but I still have a feeling the fan setup I have isn't upto it, I suppose we'll see though.

I have zero issues running my ac in the summer with a fmic, same approximate location.

Ducting, a good radiator, and real fans are the key. I have had issues using anything but spal, or oem fans.
