So I thought it was my lifters but I replaced them with 3g revised and same noise is still present three days after replacement. The equivalent sound would be a window rattle coming from the driver side. Compression test was as follows: #1- 115, #2- 128, #3- 126, #4- 125. I do have a puff of smoke if I idle for 3-5 minutes (valve seals). My question is could this be a burnt or bent valve?

The compression is a tad low.

Are you sure the gauge is accurate?

Was the engine warm?

The TB fully open?

All spark plugs out?

Did you confirm all timing marks line up?

How did you line up the crank mark?

front cover and balancer?

Or

Did you pull the front cover and balancer and line up with the crank gear and front case?
