I was removing fuel pump from my 1g parts car and I couldn't get the flare nut to come off even after pb blaster. Also my 14 mm flare but wrench seems too big. So it rounded off the nut. I want to change the fuel pump on my dd but don't want to mess it up. So which are the good wrenches that will fit this dsm nut?

Others say to use vice grips as backup. I think mine are crap too. So which vice grips are the best for this fuel nut?

I usually use a good pair of Vise grips to break them loose before even trying a wrench or line wrench.
I have been looking into this tool:

It may achieve a better bite on the nut and its big enough to get good leverage on the nut.
Hope that helps

When those nuts rust for so long the outter material becomes non structural and requires a smaller size wrench to get a good bite. I even will use a standard size wrench if it fits tighter.

I have the gearwrench set and they've worked extremely well on everything ive used them on without stripping or spreading apart.

If you need a vice grip type tool I highly recommend getting knipex cobra pliers instead. They are self locking and the teeth bite harder into the material.

I use Craftsman flare wrenches. I have both metric and standard sets and they work very well and bite extremely well for the fuel tank lines and brake lines. I havnt had one round on me yet. It maybe cheaper to get a set from Craftsman than to buy one wrench from Snap-On. For vice grips I found that the Irwin, like others is the best.

Just an update, the irwin locking vice grips are really good. They left grooves on the nut but they did the job. I also got a used snap on flare wrench from ebay and it's a perfect fit. I haven't yet tried it on my dd since the water pump went out. But I hope I will get to it soon.
