i have a new ride i have been playing with it came with v1 dsmlink. i hate v1 but dont have the green backs to upgrade just yet. i have it pretty close (im guessing)... it runs way way better now than when i bought the car. it has no exhaust leaks no boost leaks afpr is set to 43ish with hose unplugged... it has evo 3 16g turbo 650 injectors... after i set the dead time and global it ran way better, then i started leaning it out and it started pulling better and better.. well this is where im at now any advice on tuning would be awesome, i currently dont have money to put into this car and would like to tune what i got.. so please no go buy this and go buy that...

Every time I bumped up the timing just one it starts kicking and bucking around. And still no knock that's why I'm asking around I had to set my timing back to 0 just to get a good pull... I'll try it again and post another log maybe tonight...[DOUBLEPOST=1408939322][/DOUBLEPOST]ok so did some pulls and had some fun LOLol....:D:hellyeah:
the first one timing is at 3* pulled pretty good but felt like it needed more fuel on the top end not sure...
the second one timing was at 4* pulled ok but just didnt seem as quick not sure (of course im just going off my butt dyno LOL) i did give it some cool down time in between pulls and its a lil cold out tonight.... let me kno your thoughts

need help with new log... it knocked retard 2.5 degrees only thing changed from last two logs was i upped the boost a lil any advice would be great... i turned mbc half a turn went from about 15 psi holding to holding at 20 psi...

If you upped the boost and you're seeing knock, then you need to reduce timing in the area that the knock is present and by the amount of knock you're seeing.

Since you're seeing knock from 4700 to 5700 RPM in some amount, here's my suggestion.

4500 RPM - drop timing 2*
5000 RPM - drop timing 2*

If you still see knock in the low to mid 5k RPM range, you can drop it more.

For a half a turn on an MBC to see a 5 psi rise - something doesn't sound right.
 
Ya I'm in the market for some 880cc injectors and 272 cams just trying to find a good price... This car is really just my toy And I want to build it right ... Friend of mine has a billet crank and forged pistions he is practically giving me LOL... One day when I get all my parts together I'm gonna tear into it a do a good write up to post... But for now she seems to be running ok...
 
need some serious help tuning car idles ok no vaccumme leaks, no boost leaks, no exhaust leaks just spent a lot of time checking for leaks. plz dont tell me i gotta upgrade or buy something, i just need real advice or help tuning to get her running right. this car went from toy to daily driver cause my other ride lost a radiator and its expensive to fix.[DOUBLEPOST=1415920584][/DOUBLEPOST]car ran fine before bls eliminator kit now its iffy not running like it used to so i donno what changed any help would be awesome!!!![DOUBLEPOST=1415920631][/DOUBLEPOST]oh and timing is dead on 5* at idle according to my timing light

I'm assuming you verified your timing marks all lined up after installing the belt from the BSE install?

I'd go into your timing table and at least drop it all back down to 0 (currently at +2 across the board). You can also richen the AFR to help.

Sadly with v1 you don't have much control at all, so there's not much I can suggest from a tuning perspective.
 
yep i got the cam holder tool and lined everything up followed the instruction on vfaq to the T. proper torque specs and everything. i did try dropping timing to 0 on one run and it kicked and bucked about 4500 rpms so i put it back.. the biggest problem its all the knock i dont want to ruin anything. i set my boost to about 15 to 17 psi... thats another thing 1st gear wont boost past 5 psi second gear about 10 psi and from 3rd on it will hold 15psi. another thing is this motor doesnt seam to want to go past 5000 rpms. donno if that means anything either. this car was running great then i parked it for a little while when i did the bse kit and lifters and now its all weird, and to make it worse now i have to commute with this thing... also my mpg SUCKS!!!! i did some pulls drove probably a total of 15 to 20 miles and used over a quarter tank of fuel. could that mean dirty injectors? air filter is new and clean.[DOUBLEPOST=1415922185][/DOUBLEPOST]im still new to dsm's so sorry for noob questions
 
hello everyone!!!!! once again time to bring the beast out LOL... i have changed quite a bit of things found out my bov was set why to high for the boost i was running(15-20 psi) so i got that figured out. my injectors were being maxed out so i went big (plans for later) 1120 fic injectors. i plan on doing a hx40 or hx35 swap eventually time and money are things that elude me from time to time... so got her up and on the road again doing some logging and really need help on tuning yes i know i have version 1 dsmlink but that wont be long just dont want to take my car off the road just yet my dd has coolant leak that needs fixed... im going to attach some logs they are random except the third full pull log that was the last one today i think... please everyone please good advice would be very appreciated thanks everyone in the dsm family

another question i changed injector size can i still use old tune and just input new injector size??? this was my best log i have ever had and now i cant even get er close and its really annoying...please gurus chime in here im tired of hondas and subies and evo guys laughing help a fellow dsm out

You need to keep an eye on your coolant temps. They're getting to the point of pulling timing.

You've got a lot of knock in a few of those logs you posted. Drop your timing sliders back down to 0 or even lower to get rid of the knock.

Your fuel sliders need adjusted as you're running richer than you used to be on the old setup.

Is the car ever entering closed loop? All of your logs show it in open loop. See here for reasons why the car wouldn't enter closed loop:

That's all I can really offer help on a v1 setup. There's basically nothing you can adjust.
 
hey thanks ill check into that and ya it does go into closed loop when it feels like it its goofy sometimes.... on another note i went tuning and doing pulls all day long( full tank of fuel worth) at the end of the day it was running worse so i got mad at it and decided to pull massive amounts of fuel and give it alot more timing and turned the boost from 12-16 all the way up to 25 psi and said screw it and wow the car came alive holy crap!!!! i dont know why what how i was mad enough to say screw it if she blows oh well at least ill have a reason for a fresh start.... so im going to post my last two pulls and the boost est is way off cant figure that out without going to v3 from what i understand but here it is i was crusing down to the highway and then hit the on ramp it had knock but i didnt feel it like normal usually the car starts bucking really hard not this time but here it is check them out and try to help me explain why it wants to run all the sudden and what would make it better.... thanks (mad dsm respect now i hated my car for a minute)

p.s. the i got mad one is the last and boy oh boy i had a huge grin on my face!!! the butt dyno finally saw some results
