Will a 1995 gsx engine fit in my 1997 eclipse GST 5 Speed (2.0L, turbo, (VIN F, 8th digit), thru 3/2/97) (Production Date: Oct 1996 my car's info) And if it doesnt then what will I need to do it? I just bought the engine and the swap will be performed at a mechanic shop.

I agree... You will need to swap some of the harness and even rewire w/c is very minimal work.

I would just swap the intake cam and cam gear so you can use the 97 cam sensor. This way there is no rewiring or plug wire swapping. End of story. Lol

Just to clarify -- with the proposed swap, you'd be swapping the intake camshaft from the '97 into the '95 engine in order to retain the original ('97) CAS that would match the '97 ECU. What year the engine comes from has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not the plug wires need to be switched. It is only a matter of what year CAS and what year ECU are being used and whether or not the two are directly compatible; everything else is secondary to that.

To expound a little further and if I recall correctly, the 2Gb heads do not have an existing dedicated spot for the 2Ga CAS. In order to install the 2Ga CAS on a 1G or 2Gb head, one would have to follow the process outlined in the left frame here: http://www.roadraceengineering.com/1g2gheadswaptechtip.htm
