92 talon turbo awd....I have a short that has led me to the cluster. I have test light on negative post on battery and clamped to chassis, light is on.

With the ecu plugged in, I pull the gauge fuse from under the dash and I immediately hear a buzzing noise. I now have ecu unplugged and with the fuse in, I pull the gauge cluster and that kills the short. I swapped clusters and no difference. I'm looking for a wiring diagram for the pins for the cluster(car side) need to know which pins should be hot.

Also, the post on the alternator is not hot, and both pins on plug for alternator are hot. Assuming one should be a ground? Where do these wires run to off the alternator? I can run new wire to whatever I need to, just need to figure out where point a and b is...

both are pins for the alternator are 12v.

one goes to the 60A fusible link on the engine bay fuse box, the other goes to the alternator relay.

from a quick scan of the gauge wiring, the black-white wire [on a 1G] appears to be the supply wire from IG and the red-wire as well.

This is where I am at now. If I unplug the smallest plug going to ecu, the short goes away. The buzzing I'm hearing is the fuel relay when.I replug it in.

With a different ecu, from an auto that I have laying around, there is no short until I turn.the key to the start position. The original ecu is rebuilt by ecm tuning that previously had link in it but no longer does....

Since with the auto ecu installed short only appears only on start position, fuel pump wiring possibly? ?? Hard wired fuel pump with walbro 255....I am currently 100% stock besides fuel pump.

I have swapped fuel relay as well,no change
Also, when key is off and out, short does not go away till relay kicks off

After staying out till 4am last night, I narrowed it down to somewhat in the MPI circuit. I unplugged everything from.the engine and I was still grounding out somewhere. So I yanked the whole harness out. Gonna go threw it this morning and see if I can find the bad spot. I have another harness to put in, hopefully that will do it.

I found that y he two white wires from the alternator run to the fuse box under the hood, they were cut for some reason...I will look at my other two talons to see where they should be connected.

I swapped complete engine harness and no change. I realized when I plugged in the white plug(10pins but only 9 being used) that is bound to the ecu plugs, the short showed itself again. Not positive where this plug leads to, ignition possibly? I have another steering column as well, think I might shoot for that next.
