I always feel like I can squeeze more out of a turbo. Unfortunately the turbo is usually sold and gone by the time I come up with more ideas to squeeze more out of it.
I sold my 16G several months ago.
Maybe I'll come back to it, but for now I have another turbo waiting on the bench. I'm going to push it and see what I learn from it and maybe those lessons can be applied to small turbos and drop the times even more.

BTW, nice times Fonz! Getting a 16G into the tens is elite territory!

Thanks man. Always enjoyed seeing what you can muster for times, your cars redic.

I've been chasing 10's for a few years now, and havent changed much. My car's always been around a minimalist/budget build.

got a new personal best with my 16g car.. went a 10.72 @ 128.15.. only slip i could find was a 10.72 @ 127.7 though. car is an auto AWD combo, havent weighted it, but the doors havent been gutted, still has all steel body panels, and glass, also still had the stock rear bumper.. check out my build thread and you'll see other than the stuff listed, its gutted. Oil filter came loose and cost me an engine, but i've got a better combo going to gather, we'll see what it can do next year!

Nice work! Sorry to hear about the engine though :notgood: You auto guys are really starting to make a believer out of me though.

thanks man!.. the auto is badass! I made 4 full passes, 3 of them were 10.72s, and one was a 10.74.

Holy hanna! that trap is sick for a 16g auto car, i did 119 in my auto 1g awd, but its a pig, not much weight taken out at all.

I finally got the Mightymax running again and took it up to the track Friday night, so I'm back to 16g racing for the rest of the season. No good times yet, but it's looking promising. Can't wait to put the screws to this thing. :)

Well, I got the LSD installed last week. Today I got the BOV installed finally. Some little things to do tomorrow. Tuesday I'll swap out the pump gas for E85. Wednesday it's back to the track with it. It won't set any records, but I'd be really happy with an 11.5 in this thing.

Wait a minute, DSMs can be consistent? :D Autos FTW. Congrats on the badass times.

Lol, ya i know.. I used to hate on auto's so bad. After racing foot brake for so long, i'm ready to bolt one up. so consistent. Its still a work of art to see a solid pass on a 5 spd. but you cant beat 4 passes all up in and around, A TENTH. :barf:

Yup, my car is usually within a tenth pass to pass, even in the mid 8s. :)

Got the truck out Friday. The first pass was a 12.6 at 108. I gave it more boost and it ran 12.2 at 112, 12.5 at 112 (wheelspin), and 12.1 at 112 (launched in second to keep wheel spin down as it got colder). It's down on power, I think the chewed up comp wheel/cover is a big part of that. IFO is this weekend, so I'll probably have to put the 50 trim on it and replaced the damaged 16g parts over the winter and get back to that next year.

Late update, the truck went 12.000 at 112 in early May. I replaced that comp wheel/cover a couple weeks ago, and ET/mph didn't improve. 60 foots for the most part are in the 1.9-2.0 range, the brakes just can't hold back the earlier spool of this turbo compared to the 50 trim. A 1.7 60 foot will get me there, just have to figure out how to do it.

You could always pull a lucas english and run a vacuum pump on your brake booster then extend the brake pedal for more leverage? He was launching at some nutty boost levels that way.

I've thought about it. A free rev to set the brakes does pull the pedal down more. Looking at pressure on the gauge though at the rear wheel cylinders it doesn't increase much no matter what I do. The load sensing proportioning valve is probably the biggest problem (second only to the 25 year old drum brake setup), I really need to bypass that setup. If the weather is good tomorrow I'm going to throw the 50 trim back on just to make sure the truck still works the same way it did for the 10.8 pass.

I almost want to put a 16g back on my car. Built motors aren't cheap, and i'm on my 3rd one. Well almost......... Also, off topic but why are you selling the turbo off the blue beast?

There are a few FP turbos I want to try. I don't keep any given turbo very long, always something else I want to try. :) Aside from the compound setup, I ran that for 3 years. The little turbos are still a lot of fun for the same reason. They force you to think outside the box a bit rather than just turn up the boost.

I was going to do that today. Didnt fell like posting on here from my phone haha. But Ill say that the 16G crown has been gracefully handed over :D

WOW ... this is the 16g thread for sure ... you guys have really pushed or pulled that 16g into some great results. That being said I am looking to get my MHI big 16g to spool like a T-25 0r T-28 right now its a stock 2.0 6bolt 1992 TSI w/ MAFT GM3in and SAFC ( looking for a ecu tuner ) any hints or tricks that can help will be appreciated. Also it will be a auto X/ time attack kinda street fighter that is used not abused but not a garage sitter.

Not going to tell you to "Search". I'll say DSM'S are old. If somebody was going to do it, they would have did it. 16g car, are perfect for what you want it to do. They are street turbos, that give you torque at a usable RPM. My advise, to help you learn what have worked for other people is to see who did what with a 16g. Then search all of there post, and see what they've said throughout the years.

There really is no secret . E85 DSM link full with a map sensor big fuel system and a real good tuner will get u far. The sky is really the limit all depends on how much money u are willing to commit to your project.

There is not alot of e-85 or E-anything where I am but DSM link full version and speed density are on the list of upgrades to be done , along with a stroker of some displacement over 2.2 looking for torque and help spool the 16g maybe move to a 18g/19c .... what would be a good size for injectors for E-85 / E-98 if I decide to go that route
