Street/Rally Build

For a long time i have wanted to compose a collection of memories and pictures that highlight the events that have lead me to my current state; The official into to the "Fruit Of My Labor" Red5. A handful of you will remember this name.

My Goal, A Stock Appearing "Custom Edition" 2G DSM GSX that suits me.
Back Story, this is my 2Nd DSM, traded my white 2G GST for it, Got it in 2010, siezed the motor days later; t-25 starved it. And lots more issues, But it was a GSX with an LSD.

I will highlight the most memorable since we are past the process of many of the following documented events. And since i am nearing the End.--of my build....For now. So i thought this to be perfect timing.

Now before i begin, lets start with a quick prequel.
SDC12131.JPG

Picked her up with my first deployment savings, in 2008-2009. This is the last FEW pics i have of her. GST 98 330 hp. Stock 7 bolt long block w/ 750's and a oem 16G + Safc.

This is what i saw online when i was in Mosul (1st tour 2009), these 3x pics made me fall in love. And i flew to Florida just to pick her up.

{ this is more or less how I got her, as of now to my knowledge this is the 4th motor she holds. (because i have personally had it from the last 4 motors) } I owned her for a few months before I had to put her in storage, it would be another year before I could get to her since I deployed again (2011).

The motor that came with it, the one that blew only 3 days after having the car.

Here is the POS t-25, that seized my motor. literally no warning, began to smoke like an ancient steam engine, and its just locked up!

The after math.

DSC00219.JPG
Picked up a 6/7 bolt 4g63, that would eventually fail under a dyno in the future, just being rice-e.

The LSD i mentioned.

So a whole year passed, I and my unit were one the very last to leave Iraq 2011-draw down and return it to the people "we all know how that turned out".
Now that was back began trying to figure out the well know 6 bolt swap, at the time i was still very in-experienced so lots of trial and error, this is Day 1 when i saw her.

Stuff build up while i was gone, i suspect it was un-burned fuel that crystallized but i don't really know.

Had to get help from a real car "LOL" to bring her back from a long nap.
IMG_20111223_155749.jpg

MID:2012 Packed up and towed her to Sunny FL,
when i arrived i though i would use a shop to help work on her while i got situated, long story i got rammed hard, really really hard and lost alot of money time and unfortunately lost 2X motors with the ass hats, the locals will know who i am talking about.

Instead of quitting or cutting my losses, i decided i would learn from this painful experience and i would adapt overcome and become my own Master.

I scored a great deal on alot of great DSM parts, long block, trans, turbo, ect, ect. and That is how we get to the 4th motor.!

INTRO to the power plant
92 long block bc 272's
SS valves
bc 1000 valve train
wiseco .20 0ver 9:1 comp
Manley H beams stock stroke.
And i precision Garret Hybrid 20G.

Had the turbine, rebuilt and balanced by BOOST LAB OF TAMPA.

So this whole time, im driving with no tune, just w-e manged to keep my motor on, so no happy boosting and then i got to be one the cool kids, when the nylon lock nut on the control arm came loose, because i re-used it when i put the new long block in.!

So while its not documented, i replaced all 4 arms on all sides, yes with new nuts too. Also lost an axle on this.

So shortly after i lost an arm, i got stuck at work, no crank!! turns out i had used an FWD plate and not the AWD i needed, so the starter worked herself loose leaving me very stuck! and WET from the awesome FL weather.
So i had to drop the tranny, when i did i got new seals new bolts new comp fork, and oem TOB/clip and ball. new everything that goes on the outside even new paint.!!

I re installed my trans and though, might as well do a timing belt job since i am here, but unfortunately i took "others" advise not too, "don't fix what is not broken" right? yeah no.
Turns out the hydraulic tensioner failed ;car sat for a while, and when i cranked it no start!
i was reluctant but eventually checked and realized i had lost some rockers; instantly i knew my valves were dead

So, my carpet was crap, and the FL weather made it rain so my carpet got pretty bad. Also i have a chronic blinker issue so i needed to remove it to try and address it. Found a almost new aftermarket carpet in a junked 2g, paid 7 dollars for it, and picked up a 3g S-wheel too. P.s junk yards in FL seem to be abundant so their not taxing the dsm community like some others.

I added the below to reduce road/engine noise/vibration. Seen this used on big rigs.

So since the interior was coming along i figured might as well get it all done, i bought fabric and hand stitched and cut my own shifter boot, and new AEM Gauges. I also made my own headliner with the help of my lill buddy (Y). Installed a DD receiver and a covert back up cam. And a new VC i got from a fellow member, since the last had a broken bolt hole and i didn't want any vibrations. Also installed a lip and made brackets to hold.

Saw a great deal on ugly Rear evo 9 brembos complete rear from a fellow member. So i jumped, checked on EBAY and a local shop who cuts cars up for international sales had crates of brembos, i picked up evo 9 fronts(great deal) and pieced the rest of the parts, had them coated and later realized my wheels wouldn't fit. LOL

Lill Buddy picked the 527's i was leaning towards the 530's. Im happy with the choice , thanks again (Y).

So a few days later came the 18'' xxr 527's/8.75 in 20 offset. i wrapped them in the 225/40 tires off the other wheels. also picked up front and rear braces (DC) from a local "BoostDemon"- thanks again bud.

And i had previously done the STM rear bolt camber kit.

Love those Evo brembos, man. So tempted to do that to my Auto because I could use them for sure.
Well besides their attractiveness, i got them because i realized i would need more power to stop since i had focused on going faster, might as well stop just as fast. I say go for it, it will look good on against that blue.
