Alright so I plan on buying oem tensioner and timeing belt and balance shaft belt

for everything else does it really need to be oem like the idler pulley or oem tensioner pulley and the water pump?
Cause what I'm thinking is how can the non oem parts be terrible?
Are they trying to re-invent the wheel or something ?
Because I'm thinking a pulley is a pulley what's so good about the oem pulleys an water pumps?

I'm nt so I'm not making crazy horse power and it's just my dd that I would like to run for a while it's got a newish head and rebuilt starter, alt, auto turbo tranny, all rebuilt so I wanna see how long it will last it's also a bullet proof 6 bolt paired with the stock turbo trans auto so that's just an added bonus for being turbo to non turbo swap if that trans is better than the nt trans

Is there any kits that's are good?

I'd prefer to buy the parts all at once or have free shipping or just in Canada would help since our dollar is worthless any input apreciated like I said tho why is oem a must? Is there something mitsubishi only does inside there parts?

Here is the link for the timing procedure. Use this along with a manual.

  • Stick with an OEM tensioner.
  • Dayco pulley sets work well if you do not want OEM. (rockauto)
  • OEM or Gates are among the popular choices for a timing belt.
  • If you have balance shafts still, you will want to change the balance shaft belt.
  • All accessory belts should be changed out as well.
  • Check the condition of the harmonic balancer.
  • Gates makes quality replacement water pumps and accessory belts.
  • Lastly, All seals should be inspected if not, replaced. OEM seals include; cams, oil pump sprocket, crank, and balance shaft sprocket.
Rockauto has all of those products/brands available. I am recommending rockauto because they have great customer service, pricing, and fast shipping if you want aftermarket replacement parts.

Ps. This is getting done in 2 weeks so any input would really help alot! and would help me figure out what can be non oem an what has to be oem thanks

Cool man thanks for the reply I'll check there prices out compared to the dealer! My harmonic balancer was replaced 2000km ago with new belts except the ac belt we just cut it and said f*** it LOL but thanks for the help man really appreciate it I'll prob order them tmmr unless someone knows a better place !

I've used Gates components for years without issue. Tensioners, pulleys, belts, and water pumps. They are all quality components, especially for the price. If you're changing things every 60k like you're supposed to, you'll never have a problem.

It's important to use quality components, but making sure the components are installed properly and serviced at the proper interval is much more important. Also, make sure there are no leaks on the belt and that it's not contacting anything it's not supposed to be. These things will ensure longevity, regardless of the brand of the parts.

There is no difference between the Dayco pulleys and pulleys in the Gates kit. They are the same.
