Ok guys I did some searching and found most of what I needed. So this morning I was changing my pcv valve and it got hard to turn. I backed it out only to see that it had gotten cross thredded. So i need to pull the valve cover and bust out the good ol tap and die set. My first question is what kind of rtv do I use for the 1/2 moon? I went on amazon and there is about 50 kinds. My next question is if I retread the hole won't it be to big for a pcv valve the? I really don't have the money to buy another vc right this moment. I do have a catch can I can put in but I had to move the car to park it and it wouldn't stay running..... can I get a bigger pcv valve??????????

Solution
Also, make sure you are threading the PCV in at an upward angle. It doesn't thread in level like you might expect.

This is the best advice. Also, the threads are 1/8 BSPT, NOT NPT. The difference is 1 thread per inch so they are close, but not close enough.
What I did with mine was remove the PCV, tap out the hole, get a 1/8 to 6AN fitting, and run the 6AN to the catch can. STM makes a piece that directly fits in the other side so no threading of the other hole is necessary.

Just get a new damn Vc

I'm going to try to tap a new fitting in. If that doesn't work I'm going to goto the pick and pull and grab a new vc and order jay racing pcv blow through valve. I wanted to do an emmissions delete and setup a catch can anyways, so this just got me into gear. Only thing that sucks is I can't drive my car till it's fixed .

I don't know if you guys watch jafromobiles's youtube channel but he is rebuilding the motor is a turbo 4g63 1g elantra and I got my catch can idea from him. He is using a vented catch can. So what he did was toss the pcv for a blow through ran that and the breather to the 2 ports on the catch can. Then he tossed out the breather on the catch can and ran a line from the breather portion of the catch can to the turbo inlet. That's how I'm going to set it up. I just happened to watch his newest video last night to kill time and as I was watching I was like "I'll be damned, just what I needed". Again guys thanks for all the responses. Your help and guidance has really put me in the correct direction.

Got hit with a HORRIBLE case of the flu(exorcist type shiznit). I did get all the parts I ordered from eBay and amazon. Plan on tackling this project tomorrow. Just to recap; I will remove the valve cover. Tap with a 3/8 npt tap. I will use a 3/8 npt male with 3/8 barb in the valve cover. Run 2 3/8 hose from the valve cover to the catch can. Then run a 3/8 hose from the catch can to the turbo inlet. I will use a step bit to drill a hole into the turbo inlet which I will be installing a 3/8 npt with a 3/8 barb. I will seal that with some high temp silicone unless someone has a better idea to seal that fitting with.

I also plan on removing the egr valve and installing a MAP block off plate. I will be removing all unnecessary vacuum lines also.

If your removing the pcv valve then make sure you install a check valve between valve cover and catch can. Also dont forget about the vac nipple on the intake manifold where the pcv use to go to.

He's using a method described by Calan and doesn't need a check valve. I guess it wouldn't hurt to have one but it's not required. His catch can setup will be pulling vacuum and won't be seeing boost from the intake manifold.

Sorry u caught that nasty bug. what are u doing with the breather port on the left side of the valve cover? Are u running 2 lines to the catch can and 1 to turbo inlet?

2nd on going to a machine shop and having them either tap or weld in a new line. I paid $10 for them to tap a larger thread for me. Just make sure u do it off the car and thoroughly clean out the metal.

I have a giant air compressor. I'll get the shavings out......

Well guys got it done! Thanks for all the help. I ended up using the pcv valve and I'm ordering the blow through one. once I got the valve cover off and relized a 3/8 npt fitting was the size of the cover and that I would never be able to tap a hole that big I tried one last time to thread the pcv valve and BINGO!. got the catch can all setup and she's running great. Went out and did a few 2nd and 3rd gear pulls and everything was good.

WOW! Proven member! What am I to do with myself? I am hoping to sell the white 1g Wednesday morning. Order a crap ton of parts. Then saturday dig into the "Street Monster". Haven't decided if I want to call it the "Street Monster". Or "Highway Monster". Decisions decisions. .....

Best of luck on the project. I just found a '90 Laser RS, all original and cheap and I have a all original '90 GSX but no title so I am thinking about building a AWD Laser RS-4 :shhh:
