Hey guys, I've been lurking the forums for a while especially when I had my 99 GST a year or so ago. My name is Sawyer, I'm 18 and I'm located up in Oregon. Yesterday I drove 14 hours to pick up this mint 96 GST. Ever since I sold my 99 I've been searching for another DSM, but my goal was to find one that was as stock as possible. Yesterday I found it. I'll try to figure out how to put pictures from my iphone onto here without them looking like crap, as I don't have a camera. I just wanted to introduce myself because I will have my hands full. I don't have very much experience except for spark plugs, wires, oil, etc. All the little stuff haha. I'll post some pictures as soon as possible!

Welcome! always good to have new members to help out. iPhone pics are of good quality if 4 or higher so dont worry there! I use mine and its fine. Can't wait to see the pics. They upload from the phone just fine over wifi.

I couldn't figure out how to upload them from my phone so I re-sized them on paint and made a DSM Profile!
It's good to be back in the DSM world, Thanks!

Here are some pictures, the interior is in immaculate condition. The only thing that needs attention is the bay. There's a slight clicking type sound coming from somewhere on the right side of the motor. Could be serious or nothing at all, but I really would like to figure out what it is. I went to do the spark plugs and the Phillips screws are in there tight. I got one loose but the others started to strip so I backed off.

Looks pretty clean!! I'm jealous :D That clicking noise is probably lifter tick!
Do your standard maintenance, and replace that crappy 2g bov with at least a 1g bov!

Thanks! Although I don't think it is lifter tick because it comes and goes. It sounds like its coming from the bottom of the motor by the belts. I'm thinking one of the pulleys or something is a little loose and occasionally making a noise.
I'm saving up for a timing kit, I'm a little broke after purchasing the car. As soon as I sell my Miata though I should have more than enough to dump into this beauty!
http://www.jnztuning.com/product_info.php?products_id=3375 is the kit I'm looking at.. I've been reading a lot on the forums about oem vs gates for the timing belt and components. Do you have any experience with this kit perchance?

My lifter tick comes and goes as well, what made me 100% sure was after an oil change, it got worst!
I do have a new sound, and I"m pretty sure it's a pulley, as it's more of a slap then tap! And I can hear it in the cab loudly!
Need a warm day badly right now for some maintenance!

Haha will do! It looks like it has a stock amp underneath the passenger seat. I wasn't aware that was a factory option. I want to tear into the motor but I have very little expertise. I'll have to have someone do the timing job for me, I'll try to help him out so I can learn how to do it. I just don't want to mess anything up. For the 2g ---> 1g BOV conversion, it looks like I need that little adapter. Does that just slide in or is a weld needed?
