sorry guys for this common question, but i have 2 6 bolts engines with that im building with built heads and i have a set of hks 272 cams for the 1, but looking for a set for the other engine. just wondering what cams would be best for what turbo? i have a fp black brand new, fp 68hta, and 18g tdo5 that need rebuilding. fp race manni, punishment racing o2 housing and evo 3 o2 with 2.5 and 3 inch exhausts.
1 jmf smim and 1 stock intake manni for now with fmic. just need proper injectors and tuning. only have 510, and 650cc for now.

The best cams are the one that will fit your needs the best.

Think of where you will spend 80-90% of your throttle time. What RPM?

Will this build be a DD? Street/Strip? AutoX? Drag? Trailer queen? Dyno Champ?

Also keep in mind different cams will required different springs to perform like they should.

Kelfords are good cams, but not the end all of choices if you never get to the point they shine from the rest of the cams out there.

Just grabbing a set of cams because they are the hot choice is a bit foolish.

1 will be a dd, the fp 68hta, driving it from 3500rpm to 7k or so, not sure about the head specs since i got it used, just had the machine shop check it out, put new exhaust guides in and plained new seals.. it has brian crower springs which im sure are stiffer than stock. not sure about the valves or angle job but the porting job looks pretty aggressive.

the fp black will be street car revving from 4k to 8k or so. head was built long time ago think it has manley dual valve springs but cant remember, bigger valves angle job and ported. will need to have it checked out by machine shop eventually, and change anything accordingly.

wondering which should the hks 272s fit best and my next cam options. thx for any advice.

If it were me I'd go with Crane 264 cams. Force Engineering recommend them because they work really well and give a nice flat torque curve after max torque is reached. Some cams will allow the torque to drop off which translates into a lower peak horsepower number and less ability to make power at high rpms. Tyler at Force Engineering used these cams in his car when he broke the 16g record and he went deep into the 9s with an fp black. Give the guys at force engineering a call, there good guys! This link has some dyno sheets comparing the Crane 264 cams with some other 272s...

i would agree with the Kelfords too, as they are not re-grinds either, unlike alot of the other cams out there on the market now...But go with what sutes your needs for what you are gonna be doing

GSC, Kelfords, HKS, Comp/FP, BC Not a single one of those are regrinds.

Delta, Webb are companies that do regrinds.

HKS 272s are pretty small actually. One that no one recommends is the Tomei 260 which are surprisingly big for their name, they are a bit more aggressive than the BC 272s and priced reasonably.
