I believe its a an early 97 because it doesn't have split thrust bearings. I got the car put back together and my cold starts at 1100RPM is about 70PSI Oil pressure and warm is 20psi. I haven't done WOT yet as i'm going to hook the laptop back up and check the tune. Running great though.
 
Alright I need your guys help my 97 just stopped running I just put a new motor in drove about 700 miles on it (2 tanks of gas) the motor locked up going down the road but the crank still turned took the head off no damage but the crank ate up the belt and the balance shaft belt was tore up also tho oil pump still seems to turn but stiffly and suggestions on whats goin on

Maybe the balance shaft belt snapped and got mangled up. Or a pulley broke. Got to look deeper into it.
 
uh oh....I guess I could only stay away for a year...brought another one home....

I'll throw some pictures up shortly. I bought back my old 1997 GST from a friend I sold it too back in 2009.
 
Sounds like cv axles to me too. Go to a parking lot and cut the wheel all the way one way and slowly move forward. If it keeps popping it's the axles
Hi all, I am showing back up here after being busy and off the radar a few months. My '92 Laser AWD turbo 5-speed still has all the same nagging problems, including the worst one with the popping and bucking in the front when turning the steering wheel at launch, such as when turning at a stop light or backing up out of a parking spot, but only when turning. It runs okay and drives decent on the highway, although I keep thinking something isn't quite right about the way it tracks and feels. Put another new left cv axle in it the other day, first time I backed up I thought it was fixed, then parked it and tried it again days later and it behaves exactly as it did before. I can't figure out how anything could be wrong with the axle itself, or for that matter how it could be the wrong axle, or that the previous two axles were incorrect.
This car has had a JDM engine and transmission put in maybe five years ago, barely driven since. Too many nagging glitches with the radio and trim falling off over the driver's door in addition to the bucking bronco problem, can't enjoy driving it.
 
Does anyone know where to get a flywheel resurfaced? I need to get more familiar with machine shops LOL

Did you find a place? If not I will ask someone who should know tomorrow. There is a good chance that Ellis machine shop in Batesville does that.
 
Not yet. It's an act I wanna say streetlite. Was in it when I bought it. Gonna call one of my bosses friends tomorrow who has a machine shop in his back yard. I just need someone who won't eff it up and won't rape me on price LOL

Edit: Still can't find a place, you have the number of the place in Batesville or address? No place in searcy or beebe can do it.

I got mine done in benton. Stock flywheel though, not that it matters. I just took them the step I needed it too and they got it done in a few hours for a really good price. Benton transmission I believe it was.

I'll be moving back to Arkansas this weekend. I'll be moving to the Arkadelphia area, still decently close. I'll be getting a place with atleast a garage so I can finish my car up.

Picked up a 97 Talon TSI. I bought the car from a locaL guy. I'm sure most of the crew remembers AJ.

She's a little rough but I'm sure I can whip her into shape. I would load some photo's but I need to resize them cause the file is to large to load here.

As far as myself. I've been working a lot at the new job, getting situated and all. I need to go get my car in the next couple weeks and finish her up. She doesn't lack much at all. Should be a fun street car once finished.

Rough is a bit of an understatement but it does run and drive! I am for a mini meet but I wont be driving the Talon. I don't have insurance on her yet but only due to wanting to get some of the cobbled up wiring straightend out.

I am trying to save up to get this thing tuned. Its in dire need of that first. I'm only running 9lbs on 450's with whatever turbo is on it.

The turbo is unknown( looks like an ebay T3 with mitsu turbine housing ) with no tag that I can find on it.

I still stay in contact with Cabot2g(bobby) and if we can get it together I'll be sure to invite him.

See if he knows where my old 2g panda is please. Last I knew, Colton has it but he is in the military right now and he was talking about selling it.
 
Just got a lot of the maintenance done on the ol' GSX. Replaced all the gaskets too. Next week I will be replacing the Master and Slave cylinder with new OEM ones as with new tranny, transfer case, and rear end fluids with Redline.
