So, I have a sick obsession with these cars. I really don't know what to do about it.
I have three AWD cars - all 1995 models - 2 GSX and 1 Talon. One of the GSX's is a silver, completely stock car. I bought it from the second owner, who remembers when his dad ordered/brought it home in '95. Last January the water pump sprung a leak and I didn't notice until I was out of water and overheating (there were no puddles on my driveway, so I'm not sure where the water went...) This car hasn't started since. I haven't even done a compression test. The talon was a car with no engine, and I had an engine that needed the top end rebuilt (or so I thought, compression in the '40s on #2 and #3) in my project. The body on the talon was perfect, stock ride height, perfect body - only thing was the clear coat was peeling pretty bad, and it was an automatic. So I redid the top end and dropped my motor in, and fired it up, only to see it immediately smoking like a chimney. Crap. Checked the compression. 2 and 3 still in the 40s. I've moved that one around a few times, but it needs that motor to be fully rebuilt. Then I have the project car. Good ol' Frankenclipse. When I got that car, it was rear-ended pretty bad, and the guy had started parting it out, so there was no exhaust or turbo, but it came with a lot of goodies... fluidyne radiator, stainless break and clutch lines, wally255 fuel pump, 860cc injectors, lowered with adjustable shocks, Rota slipstream rims (only 14lbs each), etc... So I pulled together the rest of the parts I needed (from several other eclipses and a talon that I acquired over the years) and got it running and hammered out the ass end. At some point the engine started smoking real bad and burned up most of my oil.
I actually got them in the opposite order than I just mentioned them... The talon had a good body to replace the banged up old gsx, and then that failure lead to me looking for an engine and finding the silver gsx.
Unfortunately, none of these cars is running right now. I have a 6 bolt block sitting in the project car, along with all kinds of great parts, and the other gsx and talon are both complete cars with busted motors, and I'm at a loss. I don't have the money to work on any of them right now, but I feel like I'll be kicking myself if I get rid of them all. But my dad's getting impatient with them sitting behind his garage (he's got 10 acres... it's not like they're in the way) so I sort of need to make of my mind.
Does anybody have any interest in maybe some sort of deal? I only need one AWD DSM, but it needs to be running, so I was thinking maybe someone would be interested in doing some engine building in exchange for a couple of cars or something.
