Chexk out this throttle body i modded up to accept 2 ford idle air valves for my rally anti lag system. I also bored the tb to 2.5" and made a new throttle plate.

Throw fuel at the motor, run a line from the throttle body to the exhaust manifold for fresh air, retarded timing, let's the extra fuel ignite in the manifold, keeping the turbo spooled, therefore making boost, reducing lag time.
Dirty explanation.
 
Ive been using a throttle kicker for my anti lag system. It worked but i would feel the gas pedal get pulled down a bit when the als was activated. Anti lag can be hard on parts. But it is possible to tune in different levels of antilag. More air you can get into the motor while you are off the gas get you more boost and more heat and wear on parts, less air less boost and less wear. I should be able to tune in different levels using the 2 valves. Also i do street drive the car occasionally but i have built it around awd drifting and some day maybe time attack unlimited class. I will post a video link once i have it up and running

And with my set up there is no air injection into the exhaust manifold. My system just uses air bypassing the throttle plate. How it works, im using a haltech ps 2000 ecu, in the software u set up a min tps for activation and minimum revs, if both values are met when i lift off the gas while als is activated, then it will open the valves, dump fuel and retard timing so much that the intake charge is burning in the manifold/o2 housing and making the turbo produce higher rpm. As soon as i get back on the gas all goes back to normal. When i originally set up the throttle kicker, i was achieving 20psi just revving the car up and letting off the gas. I dialed It back to about 8psi and it makes a world of difference for how hard the power hits when shifting or getting back on the gas.
 
Very interesting, do you mind sharing how you setup the throttle kicker and what solenoid you are using with it?

I know that i could setup rotational idle with my ems, even though it was never designed for it, but i just haven't figured out the best way to setup the kicker. Thanks in advance.
 
I started to look into trying this with an aftermarket LS7 TB then use link to control the throttle. With the LS TB being electronic it would be easier to set up. Funds and to many other projects that are on the back burner already have prevented this.
 
Sorry for the late reply, the kicker set up was a solenoid from mcmaster and car. Its a 12v linear solenoid, its about 3" long and 1 1/4" diameter. The stroke might be 1". I made a small bracket off of the lower throttle body studs. And welded a tab onto the throttle cable wheel for the solenoid to push on to open the throttle up.
 
Also i will be mounting up the new throttle body this weekend and trying it out. And hopefully finish up my sequential shifter
 
I have been looking into the thought of getting anti lag setup on my 1g... Are there any benefits to doing it this way vs. Air injection into the exhaust manifold?

Also, everyone says it is hell on a turbo... But how would a Holset stand up to it? Turbo off a diesel, made for abuse... Any better of a chance than say a 16g??
 
I honestly cant say how a holset turbo would hold up to it. A lot depends on how aggressive the anti lag is. As far as i know, air injection into the exhaust poses one major problem. You need pressurized air to force its way into the exhaust mani, i know that the subi's using air injection have a very intricate system. There is basically a holding tank that fills when the car is under boost, then when you back off the gas. That tank will dump air into the exhaust mani. Many solenoids and a very high end ecu must be used.. There is a lot of parts in that system. As where the system im using simply allows air into the motor when i let off of the gas. The end result is basically the same.
 
And on a side note, its a must to have a beefy manifold and turbo to handle the abuse. I would not suggest trying it with a stock manifold. It will likely blow apart at some point. I have a sch10 stainless manifold and a fp hta86 turbo with a stainless tial turbine housing. My system is set up so that that the antilag times out and shuts off after 5 seconds of being off the throttle. That way i can keep the temps down. And you're never off of the gas for more than like 2 seconds when im at the track.
