Not sure if this has been posted here yet but figured the 1G guys would like to see it.

Very COOL !!! :talon:

Where was this video published back in 1990? Did they put it on VCR or was it on TV?

I mean, the internet started to take off in 1999, so this video wasn't on a website or YouTube. Not to mention it would have taken half the day to load this video using a modem.

I wonder who owns that specific car now :hmm:
Knowing how under valued dsm's are its very likely become a steel rim or nails or some stupid thing already.....I hold very little hope in it still being around.

Even in the mid 90s certain areas it was cheaper to buy a T1 connection than 128k ISDN which was "super fast" for dial up. It really just depended on the time. For example, in my area it was 120 a month for 128k ISDN or you could go to a guy who ran a ISP out of his house and buy a T1 connection for 80 bucks a month. I really don't know how much installation would have cost though.

But my point is, you could have uploaded it to your own website. There was also DSL connections where you could have got up to like 125kb/s down and about 500kb/s up.

However, the average home internet connection speed was..... 14.4k in 1990. So my guess would be it would have been around 95 when he uploaded it to the internet (if he did) because that's when residential T1 connections became some-what "wide spread".

It was indeed on tape back in the day, but in broadcast quality. For these "Retro Review" video segments on Youtube they have a MotorWeek staffer converting them to a digital medium.

Gold old MotorWeek. It was produced here in Maryland and their testing trap was the old 75/80 Dragstrip which has now become a housing development. As for where it was seen, it was a regular fixture of Maryland Public Television channel. Wow the good ol days before cable or satelite TV. Used to watch that show every week as a kid growing up.

I would kill to be able to go back in time and buy a 1GA brand new...imagine it, it still had the new car smell in that video and not the smell of gas, oil, and exhaust mingled together with old, dusty moldy carpet that our DSMs smell like today. :p

I've cleaned my car so well, you'd almost think it had the factory smell back.

I love that 2g review. The clip around the 3:20 mark while pulling the FWD down the track is initially nothing but wheel spin. He doesn't chirp second, he rips the damn tire off the car in a cloud of smoke- then does it again when burying third. Go back, watch it and appreciate the mid-90s hoonage.

2g video: 5:30.... 8 speakers?

Hahahahaha true. Makes me wonder what it would've done with a set of sticky tires and some more grip.

In that first video 2nd video listed in this thread... was that 1g really rated at 37MPG??? I looked up the stats on the EPA website it says 29 but I think cars were reassessed for modern road speeds a few years ago...
